Has anyone used this Japanese site before? They have really good prices on MAFEX.
They exist, they work. Sort of a use at your own risk thing. IIRC Macross collectors have had issues with preorder fulfillment in the past.
I went with DKR Joker from there since it's sold out everwhere. But got DKR Batman/Robin from AE.
I ordered an SHF figure there once. Several months after release, I heard nothing from them so I tried contacting them. Nothing for another month or so. I had to dispute the payment. They never responded to anything from me or PayPal. I got my money back and never used them again.
Now they are asking for a selfie with a picture of my id and also a bill for proof my residence. I'm gonna cancel my order.
Got my Amazon JP shipping notice for the Dark Knight Returns Batman.
Amazon Jp has dropped shipping for Batman and Wolverine back down to 1500 and change. Went ahead and orderd Batman. Wonder if EMS will be starting up again, there's been a couple of shipping price drop.
Man, i hope so. The service AE switched to is trash. The shipment is taking FOREVER, and their own website doesn't have a page to follow their own tracking numbers.
For the life of me, i cannot understand why they didn't just use FedEx or DHL.
Go for MAFEX Robocop or preorder the new Good Smile Company Robocop?
Perhaps not coincidentally, both versions of Hush Batman are now unavailable on Amazon JP.
I have the original Figma Robocop as well as the Mafex. I'd say get the Mafex. The Figma had issues with the face sculpt being too generic and not being in scale with other 1/12 figures.
The Mafex has none of these problems.
Unless there's a HUGE price gap, don't bother with the GSC.
I think he may be referring to the new Hagane Works one with the diecast chest plate.
I had forgot all about the Black Hush Batman I noticed they had dropped the shipping on my Arcadia and decided to check if maybe they had readjusted anything else.$90 is still pushing it but it beats $100 and + tax/shipping.
Other thing I notices you're not really saving any money combining anymore. I thought about picking up Wolverine too and shipping for both was 3500
Yes that one also comes with a cobra gun if that matters
We won't know until we have a reviewer compare them in-hand. That said, Mafex is the safe bet. It doesn't have diecast that I'm aware of, but it feels heavy and it seemingly has better articulation than the Hagane Works. I would pick one up before they become even more scarce.
Plus the photos show tiny hands, I don't remember that from the movie. lol
I've been waiting for the shipping price to drop on Wolvie, but I must have missed it. Shouldn't be too hard to get upon release for a cheaper shipping price.
I had the Mafex Robocop (067, from the first movie). It was a very good figure, and my copy had good QC. I liked the way the chest panel clipped on magnetically. Like other Mafex figures, it felt very light, but was a solidly built figure overall.
I would have happily kept it, but I was intrigued by the Hagane Works version (use of diecast, a functional thigh holster instead of having to swap parts, inclusion of the Cobra Assault Cannon, etc.). Also, the secondary market prices for the Mafex Robocop have shot up a bit, so it just made sense to sell it as I wasn't overly attached to the character anyway.
Hagane Works is a relatively new line for Goodsmile, but hopefully, the figure will at least be as good as Mafex's.
I'm aware. It's still from GoodSmile though. That makes it more questionable to me.
Does Good Smile have a bad rap?
The Max Factory figs I've had have all seemed to be of pretty good quality. And this guy ain't bad either...
Yeah, I don’t know...I passed on all the previous Robocops because I didn’t really care to get a figure of the character to begin with and especially not to pay a premium for a Mafex version. When I saw the Hagane Works, knowing it will be like a figma with Metal parts, I could no longer resist. I’d say Goodsmile has nearly infinitely better reputation compared to Medicom based on all the figures I have from both companies.
