So we've all seen Igear's Medical and Weapons specialist figures. We all know it's a wee bit taller than classics voyager Prime. We all know it costs $110 per.

I'm killing myself trying to decide whether to get these two and sell off my henkei versions and try and live with the size, or whether to just wait and see if anyone comes up with anything better. It's murder I tells ya!

I did think we'd have colour pictures by now to be honest. And honestly, I'd probably pick them up if the price was lower and most of those silly accessories were an optional extra. Say, $80-$90 with just a pair of pistols and an alternate head; now that I'd probably jump on no quibble. But the price is over what I'd say is a reasonable limit, and it's because of those stupid accessories.


But what are your thoughts on these two?

 

I'm passing on them and sticking with the Hasbro ones. I don't care enough for Ironhide and Ratchet to blow $220 on them. I'll just wait till it comes out and watch for people selling Universe Ratchet since he's one of the few classics figures I need.

 

They look good but I actually wish they were closer to the original size. Right between voyager and deluxe sized and a little cheaper. Right now I'm waiting on further info and reviews before biting the bullet.

 

hmm same deal. I read a post by bcm77 on another board, and he does make a good point- the price includes shipping.

So, $220 for two figures shipped. If I pretend $30 of that is shipping to the UK avoiding customs fees, that's $190 or $95 per figure. A bit better, but would still be awesome if they lost some of the damn accessories.
I think I could survive with them being the size they are, to be honest voyager Prime's a bit short anyhow compared to the carbots and even Megatron. Especially since Ironhide's Prime's muscle and Ratchet's a war medic, I think I can get used to em.
I doubt Igear'll screw up the paint schemes in the mean time; they've done just fine with the conehead MPs.


Now if I can just get a reasonable amount for my Henkei Ratchet and Ironhide, I'll be all set.

 

Let's see, pay $20-$30+ for a crappy Deluxe mold, or pay $110 for a near-perfect Third Party Voyager mold with a ton of accessories?

I like the latter, though I'm only interested in Ironhide.

 

Gettinv these....you guys seems forget about all the accesories...and your weaponless autobots will have weapons....hasbro ones cant even look up, they got michelin middle, non posable......nothing will ever be in scale....

 

Even with all the random accessories, I can't justify $110 for a character I don't care about. Almost all my guys that can hold weapons have weapons already anyways.

 

The weapon thing is kinda moot with shapeways stores offering every kind've weapon upgrade you could want. But yes, you make a good point. These ARE amazing figures.

Well thats make sense, you dont care about them, easy decision...

I got both hasbro one, ratchet is mosc, becuz i hate the fact, that all my guys can see laserbeak coming, but not Ironhide...

I must admit, the price is a little up there, but seeing shipping is included in the price...its fine with me...

 

I sold my hasbro Ironhide as soon as I heard that these were coming out. I will only buy Ironhide at release and will get Ratchet later. I just didn't like the hasbro mold at all. They could've done a better job with it.

 

I actually don't mind the Hasbro mold after getting it in hand. I can see how people don't like it though.

 

I agree with you, except that I really detest the classics molds. Since I use Faith Leader as my classics prime, the size is no issue whatsoever, but I still think $220 is a little excessive for these two. The annoying thing is that they repeat a lot of the same accessories.. many of which I have no specific use for and certainly no use for multiples. I could probably get on board with a $199 two-pack that had one complete set of unique accessories. Obviously I'd hope for an even cheaper set, but that's the price point at which I'd be like "okay, you got me."

I'll probably still get at least one of 'em. Probably both. But at $220, I'll waffle about it for a while.

 

The henkei paintjob really helps the mold, that and I've switched the spines round so that the heads actually come up all the way and his limbs are aligned. The fact they always stand like cowboys irritates me though. I love Ironhide and Ratchet is my third favourite (after Blaster), so I really have wanted to love these two toys since I got them. I guess it's just time to......UPGRADE!!!

On these basis I think I've justified the cost to myself. It's not exactly like I have money problems anyway, I'm just a bit of a tight wad  

 

if you'd be willing to pick them up at 90$, why not just consider it 20$ more for shipping + accessories? That's not too hard to rationalize when you are getting them shipped from China.

 

I can't see the iGear figures as anything other than more Masterpiece-ish figures from them. My Henkei Ironhide and Ratchet are more than suitable for the roles.

 

Even though the Universe Ironhide/Ratchet mold is one of the worst 'classics' mold I prefer it for my classic Ironhide and Ratchet (both mine are Henkei though). Don't get me wrong, igears versions looks amazing but a little to big and detailed or somethin' for me to want them with classics.
Even though I will keep my Henkei with my classics, I might get these anyway, cuz they look so good, and I like both characters.

 

I have both Henkei Ratchet and Ironhide and I'm also confused on what to do. I guess I'll wait for reviews to help me decide but boy I wish iGear would have made them a tad bit shorter. If I get these then I'll need a Faith Leader.

Also, the price is a little high. The extra accessories are cool but I'm never going to use them. I don't play with the figures like that. I display them. If the extra accessories are bumping up the price then they could have done without them. They should have done the basic bot with a weapon and then sold a upgrade kit for it separately.

 

They look good but $100 for a Voyager toy is out of my price range.  

That is a price that is basically reserved for only the character I most love AND are of Masterpiece size and quality.

 

I really want them, but im more than happy with their Prime counterparts and will be sticking to those.

 

Also, considering how mangled the OG Hasbro molds are, is that hard to believe HasTak won't reissue the character in Classics with a better mold? Not to mention how old it is and how we are running out of Season 1 and 2 characters to release.
