I'm not up on my G1 lore so forgive me. How many different molds were there for the minibot cars? I ask b/c I'm curious about the repaint potential of these little guys. Bee to Glyph and Volk and ? CJ to Hubcap and ? Windcarger to Tailgate and? I'll take all of them.

 

If you look up a figure on tfu.info it lists all the repaints/retools of a mold. I've provided a link to G1 Bumblebee below, the repaints are about 3/4s of the way down the page, there are 8 or 9 colors of him that have been released. It also links to Cliffjumper and Bumper since people might think of them as retools due to the similar engineering. There are 9 or 11 from G1 Cliffjumper and 2-3 for Bumper. Feel free to look up others.

I’m currently just in for Bumblez and Cliffy, but I must admit that if they did all those recolors I don’t know how I could say NO.

 

I am in for a Goldbug and a Waspinator if they can have new heads. I will have to reread The Wreckers sequel before I can decide about Hubcap. Did he ever appear in the cartoon or the G1 comic? The only 86 minibots I can remember getting any attention pre-IDW were Wheelie and Outback.

 

Are those Impossible Toys minibots any good?

 

Hubcap did not appear in US fiction until Dreamwave comics in the 2000s, but he did make 1 appearance in the Japanese G1 manga. He even combined with other minibots into a vehicle combiner. It's just them latching onto Powerglide, but he was part of it.

The other 86 minibots all appeared in Five Faces of Darkness trying to defend the Ark against Trypticon (that actually went better than you would expect, none of them died, even Swerve who was stepped on). Most of them had 1 other appearance.

 

Hmm, not great, I would say. They are basically the G1 figures with more awkward alt modes, worse head sculpts, but more articulation. I have BB, CJ and Goldbug but it’s not a purchase I’m proud of.   I’m hoping MechPlanet will hit the spot IT missed.

 

Just want bumblebee and cliffjumper, not sure about repaints, probably not.

 

I'm a little iffy on their 'Bee, but for some reason I'm more interested in these. Looking forward to seeing more.

 

What is HS-13?

 

Still unknown. HS-1 and HS-13 have not been revealed. It sounds like HS-10 is Ravage. But I can't remember if that was officially confirmed.
Mech Planet seems to like to make their reveals/releases out of order.

I have no idea what will be released after Bumblebee. Everything else still seems to be in the design phase.

I think these will look brilliant with good proportions, don't think i could resist the clifjumper.

Hope they do the lambos and they are actually legends scale...

For myself, I wish these (and the rest of their figs) were in the smaller legends scale (dx9/IF), but that shot of cliffjumper looks great! I hope they also make a couple of improvements on the bumblebee - slightly better hip articulation and some method of making the back look less gappy. They hit some good g1 feels though!

 

Somebody on Facebook suggested that it may be Rumble. Makes sense if he comes with Cliff.

 

Did they give Goldbug a number yet? I'm guessing he would be out next.
