Legend+ , slightly bigger than Legend scale.

 

The fact that they're already advertising in the teaser that the actual roof of the car mode just sits on the back (which means that a fake part is used for the chest) makes this an instant pass for me.

 

Now see this is how you do a teaser. It's got that silhouette mystique but it actually gives us some impression of the figure rather than being completely useless like a silhouette.

 

yes, it seems a bit awkward to me that his chest is on his back...

 

Ick to legends+, make it regular legends and upsize later if you want. Gimme legends=.

I mean, that looks like its just the doors. I can see his bum (and details of the intakes) through where the roof and the windscreen should be.

What's the whole issue with fake parts anyway?

 

I'm fairly sure you can make out the whole of the roof of the car, as well as all of the side windows. Not sure where the windshield is. Perhhaps it is clear?

My issue with it falls somewhere between it being lazy engineering, and not caring about accuracy to source material.

Immediate Disclaimer: I'm aware we are dealing with a vague teaser image, but I couldn't help speculating some things. In case no one could tell, I'm really looking forward to this Sunstreaker release!  

First, it's a small detail, but it looks like they removed the center "hub" in the wheels for a cleaner look that I really like. You can see it on the right leg of the standing silhouette. Or maybe the hub pins are just missing at this point? 

Second, the back (which is a subject of debate) seems very similar to the Sideswipe/Red Alert back, just rotated 180 degrees. Since we know the hood and doors are his feet and legs, does that mean his trunk is potentially his chest? You can see the barrel hinges that potentially would fold in his rear fenders in the photos too.

 

Yeah, I find fake parts as a lazy way to do it, so that is an automatic no. Especially on a legends figure. And it helps I'm not beholden to hypertoon accuracy, so I expect actual effort. Totally get where people are coming from.

The good news is there are options, and a likelihood that New Age and MS will do their own (and likely not fake major parts like this). So, you know. Choices and stuff.

But no, I'm totally out  

 

Is it funny that, even though I don't collect carbots in MFT's scale, I kinda' want this Sunstreaker?

sometimes MFT can make truly amazing bots. but other times you just end up with things like this. i would give it a very strong...meh

 

Not bad, but I KNOW MS can do better. Still, if it's affordable enough...
