WITH SILVER PARTS THAT WE KNOW ARE SILVER!
What? Why would they be white? They're meant to be silver (they were chromed in the original fig) and when they're not silver, they're grey, like mp01 and mp10.
In other news, SHOW US THE FUCKING TRUCK MODE ALREADY!!! Seriously, you've got a prototype. Can it transform or not? I'm about ready to go in on dx9 even though it won't scale with my os legends and even though it'll be dx9 priced because they actually show us what we're getting into.
You could say it would simply be to hard to depict CHROME in animation.
Certainly looks a little chromy
It might have meant to be chrome but, they colored it as white. White is animation accurate.
Yes it is they don't have silver in animation.
We are just waiting for new mp10 to do the white then everyone will be doing it. The amount of silver there has been... I don"t mind silver, over half my collection has silver faces details already... Just they could do his thighs waist, why the hell not.
Looks more like a light grey
(On a side note I bet the animators wished that they had made the autobot symbol a bit simpler.)
It depends of what version that screencap is from.
That's from the latest Bluray release
I don't think that counts because that guy is clearly visually impaired...
But on serious note those screen grabs are from the movie, not the toon regular which i think is pretty white as standard, and in those scenes it's the early morning after the big night long battle so everyone/thing is not in bright daylight anyway.
There where a ton of Soundwave variants, even more bee variants planned, and no reason to be upset because you don't see exactly what you want paint wise.
This is the company that did different versions of Soundwave y'know.
They'll do both.
Oh, hey, jinx!
That's how best results are achieved in this arena. Before you buy anything you're worried about the size of, check for a thread on it here. There's usually one for each figure and you'll find comparison photos in them most of the time.
He's a truck. We know the grill and stacks are definitely chrome. The toy came first (way first) and they made a cartoon to push toys.
Personally I do just hope for variants because I f'ing hate full toon. It's uninspiring to design to a poorly animated show that's sole purpose was to push toys, that clearly we gobbled up because of our imaginations made them larger than life. It was made cheaply and rushed, so why are we asking for cheap designs now? Our engineering has come so far we can mix the two and understand the original toy and animation. Like the Masterpiece line originally was doing! The movie was at least the pinnacle of G1 animation and you can see there is clearly more "bling" because they are supposed to be metal and alive (all the robots)
Mech Planet's sculpt is already a more modern take of him. You're showing the cartoon, but then look at his body. He's got more of a V shape rather than blocky. His lower legs are thicker. DX9s version is more cartoon, but that's why I'm looking at this sculpt more. Match's closer to MP10 which I loooove that design. Heck DX9 even has chrome.
Yeah but... I think we're just gonna have to disagree on this one. It's already been said that the white in the cartoon was always meant to depict silver. Hopefully we get variations that make everybody happy.
So, wouldn't the smoke stacks, grill, hips, thigh and gas tank have to be white then to be animation accurate?
What about a very light silver?
While, yes, I reward creativity more than piety, it’s worth acknowledging that white usually ages and weathers a bit worse than silver and grey but still better than a lot of chrome.
Sure. I might buy another MP-10v and swap the legs from my 10VU
DX9 pretty much nailed it. Chrome for the grill, exhaust and gas tanks. A very light gray for the crotch and legs.
Then, that uni-hip skirt ruins it all.
I'd take it. WiP and TW Primorion are the two most accurate Primes to me.
