    UPDATE!!!

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO PUT THE HEAD ON WITH OUT CLEANING THE INSIDE. Due to the printing or whatever the balljoint cup is a bit small and needs to be cleaned out with a razor. The video will be up shortly now that all kits are shipped.

    VIDEO IS LIVE

Here is the basic paint work that will be covered in the class. I had to keep it to the time frame I have for the class. My hope is that everyone who wishes to paint this will push their on creativity and take it farther. I will still be adding panel lining/ wash to this guy.

Thanks again to MECH IDEAS for the awesome special molding process. You guys rock.

Tecrom Designs, you did fantastic on that head!

THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO HAS SUPPORTED THIS FIRST TIME VENTURE! I know I speak for everyone involved when I say we are very appreciative of the support from the community!

This is a poor quality picture of the final test piece made by TECROM DESIGNS! DUDE IS AMAZING!!! This head changes the over all look of the figure.

This is a lot of paint...

HUGE PROPS to MECH IDEAS for pulling no punches with these exclusives and giving more than we ever asked for!

Hey everyone! The sets are now up for order: the pre-sale went very well so the sets are limited. There were only 100 available. First come first serve.

Thanks SODAWILLY FOR THE DECAL WORK!!

And now for that other big announcement we hinted at recently...Captured Prey is pleased to announce that we are offering a custom figure class, hosted by Encline!

This set is limited to just 100 pieces! Each set will include two figures prodced just for this class, custom parts, an extra bonus, paints, basic tools, and more!

The registration will be opened on Monday, January 14th at Noon pacific time (1PM mountain time, 2PM central, 3PM eastern), and registration is first come, first served, with a limit of one per person.

Special thanks to our sponsors and contributors at Coast Airbrush, Cherry Bomb Toys, Maiden Japan, Tamiya, The Workshop, Renderform, Corbot V, and Headrobots!

Some cool news. For you guys ordering non-attendee packs we will randomly put a "prize" from some of our sponsors in random kits so you do not feel like you have missed out on the class give-a-ways! Huge props to COAST AIRBRUSH for hooking us up with great prices for materials.

this should answer some questions as to who will be inspiring the figures!

TEST COLORS. I don't have the figures in hand yet to make the final pieces but this is close to what we shall be doing in the class.

If I can make Botcon this year (which is my plan) then I'll be on board for this. I just need to find out when my summer training is and I'll know for sure! Even if I couldn't I'd still love to pick up the figure!

Which night would be a pretty big determining factor. Also, and I could be wrong, but I'm not sure if you could get 100ish to bite without prior knowledge of what the figure would be. Especially if its a pretty high cost.

the figure would be known before hand as you are right it would be the first time for this. We have the base figure just need to determine the new parts. I think it will be a surprise, and something that will NEVER get an official release.

We are thinking Wednesday and Thursday evenings since I want to party at the other events Funpub will be hosting over the weekend.

I can see a couple of potential problems with this:

    1. Space might be more of a problem then you think as if you look to do it at the hotel Botcon is at all the available convention type spaces might be taken up by that event.

    2. if Hasbro or Botcon people get wind they might try to shut you down as they are quite anti 3rd party these days and there has been no information saying otherwise one must assume last years rules regarding 3rd party and KO stuff are still in effect.

Not trying to be a party pooper just bringing up potential issues that need to be addressed to make this a success.

The convention spaces are a plenty at the location.

And, as it is a private event just being held at the same time, painting toys, nothing really that can be done. Plus, I am sure anyone involved understands that customizing TFs has gotten to be part of the collectors culture and it is good for business. Hasbro and Funpub will be getting their customs class. We would just like to offer something on a more grass roots level.

Grass roots start small. You may not see 100. But I like the idea, and hope it succeeds. I'd do it, if I could.

I live in SoCal, and was debating whether or not I would even go to Botcon. If this gets picked up, I'll be in.

I can't go to Botcon, but I would totally be into ordering a 3rd party figure to build and customize, myself. Would non-attendee orders include paint and such, or just the toy? If not, it might be a good idea to add that as an optional thing, at least.

Another good idea might be to record the whole thing, or at least the important bits. That way non-attendees can have access to the tips.

I can't go to Botcon, but the fact that the customs class toys are essentially super-exclusives (given that they're cast in new plastic colors now) has been a major frustration for me. I'd support the third party customs class toy being available to non-attendees :)

Count me in. 100 seems the right number, and even if only 50 people turn up I'm sure you'll be able to shift the extra units.

Thanks for the feedback guys. We will be updating this as more info comes along so keep a watch on the front page.

Looks like we may have an official store teaming up to help promote!

    Also...maybe... TWO FIGURES?!

No offense, encline, but will you actually show up this time? Maybe my memory is a little hazy but I remember you offering your own Botcon custom class a couple of years ago and you never showed up after taking people's money.

Sounds neat... but wasn't there a "3rd Party Ban" last year...? I imagine FunPub/Hasbro would try to stop this from happening.

Alright then. I hope it all goes well then. I do wonder if Hasbro and Funpub might try to pressure the hotel into saying no as they are spending a lot more money on the hotel's services than you would be.

But i would think so long as your careful to not connect it to Botcon in anyway you would be safe as then Hasbro and Funpub could not legally do anything .

Do that and keep it low profile and i think you will get this off with no hassles so long as you can find a third party company to sign on.
