IMO the UT version is too small even for anime proportions. From certain angles -- like in my photo below or @RickyLeeSTF 's above -- it almost looks passable, but overall it doesn't work. But I don't think it would take much of a size bump for it to look okay. That's why I'm looking forward to MFT taking a stab at him.
thanks for the pics and i must say that actually works.
btw...that dna kit looks balls out on fort max. i can't wait till i pick one up.
Honestly...that looks better than I thought it would.
A little small. I think the MFT treatment will bring it up to jussssst right.
So back on topic, who’s got more photos of Chromedome?
Sigh, another day of nothing from SpeedPAK. If it doesn't arrive tomorrow then I won't get it until after New Year's due to holiday travel and office closed.
Fingers crossed for you buddy!
Tomorrow's the day....I can feel it in my bones.....
Unless that's just arthritis I'm feeling...
Thanks guys. The funny thing is, last I checked I'm closer to China than either of you. * shakes fist angrily at the sky * SpeedPAK!
*insert yelling Captain Kirk animated gif here*
Ordered a Chivalrouser to go with my toyworld hardbone/brainwave!
I'm excited at how they will scale in alt modes.
In my head cannon they are a trio of mercs/opportunist who are disillusioned with the big war.
I'm glad I held off on the titans return version ,this will fit my vision a lot better .
Also I'm stoked for the diako mech accessory
So what are the improvements over the UT version?
He's bigger, has more surface detail, and has a better articulated Headmaster.
This pic really makes me wish Fort Max had ankle tilts
Adding to that:
-the headmaster plugs into a rotating socket so Domey has neck rotation now.
-arms extend further
-comes with more accurate longer rifles
-More accurate bronze/gold hubcaps
-new sculpting on lower legs for more cohesive car mode
There’s probably more than that, too.
I paid absolutely no attention to the UT Headmasters, and had no idea there were so many other differences.
The fists clip into the leg area in car mode now due to the added bits on the outside of the calves...gives it more of a cohesive look. The headmasters arms move in unison. More skulpting in general. Overall it’s a bit easier to transform than the original... I always had issues with the leg tabs on that one. He’s the height of ms Magnus, which works for me. The plastic feels cheaper, same as the other mft toys I’ve gotten. Overall not bad and I’m looking forward to weirdwolf.
The plastic doesn’t feel cheaper to me really, it just has a different surface texture being a more toyetic glossy plastic as compared to the ‘soft’ matte texture that UT and IF use. I’ve heard people call the soft texture plastic ‘cheap’ too, so I guess it’s a personal preference thing.
One thing I really like about Chivalrouser vs. UT’s version is the transparent, smokey-glass car windshield. It really captures the feel of the G1 toy, much more so than the painted blue windows of UT’s.
The size also works better with a Legends lineup for me, since I generally think of the Headmasters as being larger ‘bots.
