Animation colors Grimlock looks amazing. Once the whole set is available, I’ll order the five animation versions and probably just keep them in dino mode.

 

He's not getting the articulated dino arms that the metallic version did

hopefully they are in the box as the random extra. i think the other non metallic mft dinos skimped on the extra swords and i think the little mech pilots.

but with grims i hope he has the arms at the very least.

I’ve grown to like the look of these. I’m not a fan of the yellow on silver of the dx9 originals but the MFT yellow on gray is a nice offset to the MFT silver and gold. I shall have both sets!

 

I have the metallic ones mainly because I wanted Swoop in blue but I think I will have to get the yellow ones and then do some part swapping. The only problem will be getting Swoops rockets in yellow. I guess I will have to try and paint them. It would be nice it they had a blue Swoop with the yellow.

This is a surprise...but I'm not sure why I would pick MF UM 2.0 over MST UM.
MST UM is closed to 15cm which put him right next to MF UM scale.
Previously, when MF upscaled IF UM, they didn't even bother to do any improvement e.g. could've given a rolling wheel.

With the above in mind, the only way I would purchase MF KO MST UM it would need to meet either:
A. Upscale it to either Voyager or Leader Scale. Or Downside to IF UM size.
If MF decided to make it the same original scale as MST UM, then it must have:
B1. Red bumper
B2. In alt.mode toon missile configuration, MST UM trailer has a hole at the front, MF needs to provide a tab/cover to hide the hole.

Since I don't foresee neither choice A or B is happening, MST UM is my choice for now. Unless, MF has something up their sleeve...

 

How much does MS Magnus cost?

 

He ranges from $45-50. I'm sure MF will cost half of that. I can see price being the driven force in which people will pick MF over MST. When I make my assessment earlier, I wasn't thinking of the cost or the time of availability between the two. Part of me want to support a new company like MST for putting a fine product/design for their TF line. But at the time, I do have issue with their MST UM alt.mode coming from a toon fanatic like myself. So who know, maybe I should wait for MF UM 2.0 with the price being half, lol.
