Looks not bad, though a bit rough around the edges in places, and I don’t think they’ve done a great job on shoulder articulation (to be fair, his design makes it tough to do a great job). And although he has a hot rod car mode, which I’d rather he didn’t, at least they haven’t tried to saddle him with two robot modes.
As always, I’d rather it be standard legends scale, but nice that it’s an original design (well, an original execution), not a ko.

 

2 competing legends+ hot rods but no legends scale version? Never change 3p. Looks good but since karma's a bitch, let's see how fast someone KOs it and releases the legends version.  

IMO this really sucks the air out of hoodlum's launch. It makes clear the differences of a product designed 3+ years ago that focused on maybe 1-2 weaknesses of an official offering (similiar to how FT approached Grinder) versus something that's designed from the ground up today.

The alt mode looks like it's just a shell over the Hotrod car. I wish they went with the theory that Rodimus uses his whole alt mode to transform.

 

There was that one episode where Rodimus split from his trailer and was pretty much his old Hot Rot alt mode underneath so it makes sense for him to have both alt modes and not just some front of the truck alt mode.

I like this guy and an going to get him, but like mp09, I consider him to be Rodimus and too big for Hot Rod. I'm going to need a carbot sized Hot Rod as well. Maybe from Magic Square.

 

Is his Matrix removable? It isn't shown seperately like his other accessories are.

He'll definitely be Rodimus on my shelf though. Maybe a future release will be scaled down for Hot Rod.

 

Haha I hear ya. I'm mostly MP myself but I pick up legends here and there that I really like and I times I wish I had just gone legends.

But Carry doesn't look exactly like Rodimus did in episode 175, scene 6, frame 202. Therefore it's garbage.

I have Carry, and think he is great and a brilliant figure. I just wish someone would do the same type of transformation to a G1 Rodimus.

 

Carry is one of the best figures I own. They could have gained a wider audience with a smaller spoiler but I don’t mind it.

It is, indeed, garbage. I mean what’s with the shoulder articulation? I expect my Rodimus figures to have none... or at the very least fall apart if moved. And look at that face! Phssh, it doesn’t look anything like Ron Perlman. Fail!

 

Quoted for truth...some of this stuff put MP scale stuff to shame. This guy looks fantastic and very very tempting.
