I thought I could give the guy asking an idea showing him the same molds. I'll delete it

I think someone asked for photos comparing the MS-18 version of this to the G1 toy? Here's a few with the three different versions next to their G1 counterparts.

Man, I would have rather they removed the cartoon-show fake wheels from his shoulders and retooled the tops of his shoulders to eliminate the holes that would leave, than to retool the front of his upper arms. The figure ALREADY has the REAL wheel-nubbins behind him on his backpack, like the G1 toy.

Also, a bit of a bummer that they didn't paint the sides of the trains-wheels panels for shuttle mode like they had in the prototype pics.

Still looks great tho. LOVING my cartoon-show version.

Actually, didn’t someone in this thread pop the little fake wheels off and discover that underneath were little square nubs? Which actually kinda match the clips on the G1 toy. I guess you could also shave them down, if they’re too big.

That would be awesome! I didn't see that post.

-edit- okay, saw it. That looks pretty great. I'm happy with the fake wheels for my cartoon show color, but I would definitely be tempted to pop them off for the other two.

:(  well that didn't work out as well as i'd hope for. MS-18 has a tinge of blue/lavender hue to what i thought would be more of a neutral grey. sadly, i'm fairly disappointed with the parts swap onto MS-20B because of that, as it doesn't quite work the way i had envisioned it. heck, MS-18 turned out being the better of the two with the off white parts swapped on.

guess i'll be swapping the parts back to their respective bots, maybe apply some paint apps onto MS-20B, keep the white alt head and sell MS-18. :(

    alright @lilcarus, here ya go…

i think i've settled on only swapping the hands/feet between the two, they are only really noticeable in bot mod and concealed in alt. i'll prob apply some paint apps on MS-20B vents like they did for MS-18.

Just an OK/good figure for me. The tail fin is a pain to flip up and doesnt function or look as good as the G1 figure, and then the fake wheels not being secure in robot mode.

Is there a trick to flipping up the tail fin without hurting your fingers? There seems to be nothing to grab onto so I'm left trying to pinch it

Yup... push against the very top corner of the fin, right under his chin (front to back, like you're pushing it toward his head). That should lever out the fin a bit, enough that you can get under the lower tip and pull it out the rest of the way.

Finally, after two months of travelling, Iron Sky has arrived! He's not a very convincing representation of Astrotrain, though.
