Sure. I can also understand your complaint, but considering the scale, it’s something I can easily overlook as a compromise. Now if this were Voyager, maybe I can give it a pass. Leader, or Masterpiece? I’d be throwing a tantrum over the half and cheat wheels.

MFT is a great choice here: solid QC; solid materials; cheaper than most 3P (at this scale); and larger than Newage, Toyworld, etc.

If you compare an MFT toy to another 3P or Hasbro toy (at this scale), you can't help but feeling cheated on the other toys! :lol  You also have to marvel at how MFT can accomplish some of these awesome designs at a scale this small - certainly, it's not something Hasbro has ever attempted (despite the obvious demand).

The nose cone is so cute. I’ll be disappointed if they don’t make blitzwing.

The triple changers are a huge win for MFT. Them being bigger than the average legend does not seem to bother regular legends collectors. They are relatively untouched by the other legends manufacturers. Both Newage and Magic Square have a lot of G1 they could do for possible bigger profits before they get to the triple changers. So they fill a need that there is a demand for. The larger size makes it easier for MFT to engineer the figures. I get the feeling MFT designer really likes the triple changers.

I say all that to say that I am sure Blitzwing is on their sooner rather than later list.

Love what I see so far. Looks like the perfect little Astrotrain toy for my tastes.

Isn't there a Blitzwing in the works... somewhere? I seem to recall the name "Blizzard."

You make great points, Hawkwave. But still I would like to see NA or MS take on one or two of the Triple Changer characters. I really like their design aesthetic and everything they are able to accomplish with their engineering in the smaller size... But MFT is proving to be a tough act to follow; their Springer has not been approached at all and while it has flaws for sure it's definitely badass. This Astrotrain is upping the ante with quasi-realistic altmodes and an adherence to both animation and toy designs for the character....

Oh, and if you want a Legends-scaled Astrotrain...

No joke, not only do his vehicle modes scale semi-decently with Legends stuff, the Classics toy's robot mode towers over them but not to an absurd degree.

I can never remember, is it the 2-8-2 or 2-10-0 that's big enough to house several F-15 jets inside and has booster rockets on the back?

Its articulation is very of the era, but I still think it's a fantastic Astrotrain. All three modes look good enough. The robot mode in particular is quite nice. Great gun. And I'm a fan of the deluxe scale for triple changers, even if it hinders their complexity somewhat. I find that just a very satisfying size for them.

I don't even count Hasbro's "trains" at this point. I haven't bought an official Astrotrain in like, well, since G1 I think, due to how utterly awful Hasbro's alt-modes for him are. (I sure miss my RiD RailRacer...)

I just noticed this but haven't they used the number ms-26 before for the sharkticon set?
