In the meantime I just ordered astrotrain g1 reissue to customize it, colouring the white parts and give to him a closer look to cartoon version. More grey, blu, black, purple? Dunno. I will decide when I will have him in my hands
If they are going to try to charge $40 for this one as well then it damn well better come with a Mech Suit too.
Otherwise I can sit and wait for the price drop below $30.
Me looking at my alerts: Oh sweet, Cheem just attached files to the thread, that means we probably have color pics now!
Me looking at the thread: God damnit.
I see just an uncoloured new mold. I think that things will go beyond Chinese new year holidays, much beyond
Hmm, he seems to be carrying a backpack?
It's the thrusters, which is pretty common for Astrotrain. I don't know if the cartoon had it that way, but it was on the G1 and Classics toy, as well as some comic versions.
This is the mass production test. The last was 3d printed. Note all the screws and pins present now.
He looks fantastic. Mostly the same, but fantastic. His shoulder wheel things are bigger, so there are tweaks to be found.
Probably either right before or right after CNY. I'm betting before, because they know there's excitement for this one.
MFT has grown a LOT in their 3yrs. They've got multiple product lines going and TFs is just one of them. I can't wait to see what they do in the next 3. Citybot maybe?
I suppose price tag would be ~40 usd
This does seem to be the current Legends/L+ trend, between MFT, MST, and NA.
im thinking just 25-30 outside of it being astrotrain there is nothing inherently special about this mold.
but i do get a very heavy NA vibe coming from him. perhaps he was designed by one of them.
this bot is nothing like the previous releases that have come before him.
Rodimus is the same flavor of step up. I think it's the same designer finally getting to stretch their legs on guys bigger than minibots.
that purple background is super annoying, I feel like I almost went blind trying to see if there was any true coloring going on in this.
This looks great and I definitely will buy but honestly it’s just increasing my thirst for FT Thomas.
Strongly disagree. This Astrotrain looks like he has an extremely simplistic transformation scheme. The leg wheels are literally a flap that flips over - and it appears that you simply flip the whole thing over to go from train to shuttle (with some additional minor nips and tucks). NA would have figured out a way to fold all those wheels into the leg.
You guys think they’re gonna do a black and white realistic repaint?
No. I think they'll do toon colors and maybe toy colors.
This mold looks like they took the original figure, enlarged it and added articulation where allowed. It's a very well-conceived update of the original design. Wasn't sure about Astrotrain having 2 Guns, but I'm into it.
Which is a great formula to follow in most cases. Hoping for a Blitzwing in the same vain.
