Okay, there was no way I wasn't getting this figure. I love the design, and the colors were too sweet to pass up. I figured I'd make my first order from Amazon.jp a worthwhile one, so Shockwave it was.

First off, this is how it came:

The figure was boxed and shrink wrapped to a sheet of cardboard, inside a DHL board with a piece of the original shipper stuffed in a baggie.
    Yikes. Not impressed.
LUCKILY, the figure and box were perfect.

I won't go over the articulation and tank details since this is a relatively older figure.

This is one of the hardest things I've ever had to say about a Shockwave figure, but I am quite disappointed with this offering. While I love the Hasbro release, this one just isn't up to snuff.
-The blade and gun hardly stay attached to the arm sockets. The pegs are so loose that if you tip the figure sideways, they just fall out.
-The Mechtech feature isn't solid, and when open, the side guns aim slightly upwards.
-The collar piece doesn't plug into the chest tight at all and easily slides back out.

Well, here's the bot mode. The saving grace for the figure is that the colors are beautiful. The paint applications are crisp and clean, and the purple used is deep and rich.

I've owned at least five of the standard release, and not a single one had any of these issues.
Shame Takara. Shame. Movie The Best indeed.

For a figure I was pretty hyped to own, this was a real let down.

That's too bad, aside from a little looseness with the mech tech weaponry, my DOTM Shockwave is still pretty much perfect five years later. Love that purple though, probably my favorite color.

Yeah, this purple is a nice cool color. The original release had more red to it, where this one is more royal.

I think there was different deco of this figure that was released in the USA that had a slightly more faithful representation to the movie character.

If you're thinking of the one that was in a multi-pack, that one was kind of all over the place with colors.

I actually think i like the colours of the first release more. This one is probably more movie accurate but the old one is just better looking IMO.

None of them are actually movie accurate, but this one has the most visually impressive colors.

His colors do look spectacular, but it's a shame he has so many problems. I was considering picking him up, but perhaps I'll pass.

I think this is the better one in term of color/ movie accurate. But I do have the Qc issue with mechtech having the 2 guns not in line with the main cannon. Won't be using the mechtech feature.

For what it's worth, I picked this guy up as well and don't experience any of the issues that Yaujta does. Cannon & blade stay pegged in snugly, collar stays pegged in to the chest with no issues, mechtech issue works fine and cannons align properly. It's as perfect as my original DotM release. I'm hoping Yaujta's issues aren't widespread, but it doesn't sound like a ton of people picked this up so it may be hard to say for a while.
