Has anyone else picked this up? It's the Megaman X1 remake for the PSP. In short: HOLY SHITE THIS IS AMAZING. It's easily the PSP's killer app, for me. Should the system go down in price, I highly recommend that folks give this a shot. The game isn't a port, it's...well, an outright remake. Subtle changes make the gameplay remain new and interesting for X1 vets, and the Vile mode is a totally different experience. Did I mention the Hard mode? On X, it's tricky. On Vile, it's DAMN IMPOSSIBLE. I love this! Basically, on Hard mode, aside from everything hurting more, the bosses all gain an extra attack. What does this mean? Chill Penguin- CHILL PENGUIN-...will kick your ass if you underestimate him on Hard mode. The English dub is far better than I was expecting. Ocean Group did a wonderful job. Almost all of their voices feel great, aside from Dr Light and Sigma (who unfortunately have loads of dialogue). The Day of Sigma is easily one of the best game extras I've ever seen. Nearly half an hour of X action? Why the HELL is this all the quality cel-animation X has ever gotten? I'm sold on this concept. Bring on MHX2. Hell, bring on MHX3-6 while you're at it.
Don't have it, but I want it. Just all the extra gameplay features are enough of a selling point. But I've also seen Day of Sigma, and I would love to have my own copy of it. If only the PSP weren't so expensive, this game would be a system seller for me. Hell, if the price doesn't drop real soon, I'll probably go buy the game just to have it when the prices finally do drop. MMX4 was one of the games that convinced me to buy a Playstation years ago, and now it's looking like the MMX series will get me to buy yet another Sony system.
They have said they plan to do these Mavrick Hunter X versions of X1-X6. Doesn't mean they will, but are thinking about it. And I woudl think they would all sell with no problems. Only thing I didnt like about the game, was the placement of 1 or 2 of Viles Sub Tanks, one is near impossable if you control is off just a tad.
Yeah, the Subtank in Storm Eagle's stage? I'm still working on that (skipped it in both Normal and Hard). It's sadistic what they designed for getting that.
English voices? hm... I'm not sure about this, the previous Megaman games had awful voices. But thanks for the tip.
Trust me, I went into this coming off of -X4's- dub. The English voices are sometimes eh, sometimes okay, sometimes great. Megaman is voiced by a -guy-.
I got it. To get it you near pure perfect platforming dash control. Only reason its hard is due to his power armor time meter. First time I did it I jsut striaght dashed all the way, and just barely got the attack off to get to the subtank, the 2nd and 3rd time I took it slow, and half the enemys dropped weapon energy which keepted the battle suit powered. Also the Voice acting is fine. I myself Liked the X4 voice for X, but its fine for this game. I just hope they stay with the same voices if they do all the X1-X6 games in this way. Chill Penguins Voice is different, and they also made Spark Mandrill sound like Jock that got kicked in the nuts.
I wasn't aware that was even possible. For Megaman, it works. For X, hell no. He is not a little kid.
Agreed. The X4 dub was horrible. But you have to give Zero's voice credit for the maniacal laughing and screaming. Iris can go to hell and die however. I wished someone would tear out her vocal unit.
From what I understand, Ocean Group redubbed X1-X6 for the Megaman X Collection. Then, Inafune said he wanted all of their voicing + the remixed soundtrack for the PSP remakes, instead. So...all MMX Collection criticism aside, at least the MHX PSP games'll be consistent quality in the sound department.
Man, too bad Zero didn't play a more vital role in this game. I would have loved to play X1 from his perspective. Of course, he doesn't get his kickin' beam sword till Dr. Cain rebuilds him in X2, so maybe not playing Zero is alright.
Just picked this up and all I can say is .... "THANK YOU!" I finally do not regret owning a PSP. If this game had sucked.... The system was going on eBay. Sad that it takes a remake of a classic game to make this sytem worthwile for me. Can't wait for Megaman: Powered Up now....
Quoted for truth, man. Lumines was cool and all, but this was the first -killer app- PSP game I've owned. Only took a year... >.< Don't get me wrong, I've loved using my PSP as a mobile media-watching/listening device, but for gaming...MHX is the first one that reaaaally sucked me in.
