If you dont really want them, you coukd always try to trade for something you do want. $75 is a great price for any MP. Might be really easy to trade for the new grimlock if you prefer that one.

I'm very confused as to which Soundwave is the one I want. What one is the one with the energon cubes, Megatron gun and all five tapes, the SDCC one? What's the going rate? I'll have to look at the Junkion board.

I'm looking for a Skywarp or Thundercracker, plus that Soundwave.

The numbering scheme is quite confusing.

So that's why the price is low. Then again, any version of MP Grimlock with a $75 price tag is always a good deal IMO.

I'm new to the collecting game, and I tried buying anything I saw that was pretty. I went ebay crazy and wish I knew about this site. Would have saved me plenty on MPs. Purchased the MP starscream (walmart) for 184, ouch

These prices are in Pounds or Euros? If so that explains the low price some.

I would put at least MP-2 up for sale and use the money to order MP-22.

There is no SDCC MP Soundwave (although I think TRU started selling some at SDCC). The one you want is the TRU exclusive one (the only one so far released in US). Going rate is a bit over retail at $150. Get it soon though. I believe within a year price will jump significantly.

Transformers is made and sold by 2 companies, Takara and Hasbro. Takara sells them in Japan while Hasbro sells to the rest of the world. Hence if you want to buy a Takara Masterpiece and you live in the US, you'll have to import it (or buy it from someone who did)

Takara, in general, is the one responsible for "making" Masterpieces, with some exceptions. The Takara Masterpieces that have been made so far are (that last three on the list are yet to be released):

    MP-1: Convoy (Optimus Prime)
    MP-1: Convoy (Gold Version)
    MP-1B: Convoy Black Version
    MP-1L: Convoy Final Edition
    MP-2: Ultra Magnus
    MP-3: Starscream
    MP-3: Starscream (USA Edition)
    MP-3G: Starscream Ghost Version
    MP-4: Convoy Perfect Edition
    MP-4S: Convoy Sleep Mode
    MP-5: Megatron
    MP-6: Skywarp
    MP-7: Thundercracker
    MP-8: Grimlock
    MP-8X: King Grimlock
MP-9: Rodimus Convoy (Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime)
    MP-9B: Black Rodimus Convoy
    MP-10: Convoy (Optimus Prime)
    MP-10B: Black Convoy (Optimus Prime)
    MP-10A: Convoy (Bape Ver)
    MP-10 Convoy Mode "EVA"
    MP-11: Starscream
    MP-11S: Sunstorm
    MP-12: Lambor (Sideswipe)
    MP-12G: Lambor (Sideswipe) G2 Version
    MP-12T: Tigertrack
    MP-13: Soundwave with Lazerbeak
    MP-13B: Soundblaster with Ratbat
    MP-14: Alert (Red Alert)
    MP-15: Rumble and Jaguar (Ravage)
    MP-16: Frenzy and Buzzsaw
    MP-17: Prowl
    MP-18: Streak (Bluestreak)
    MP-19: Smokescreen
    MP-20: Wheeljack
    MP-21: Bumblebee
    MP-22: Ultra Magnus

The first one to release Masterpiece Soundwave was Takara (MP-13), but he only came with Lazerbeak. Rumble and Ravage (MP-15), and Frenzy and Buzzsaw (MP-16) were sold separately. Also, Masterpiece was originally meant to be special, one-off pieces, with new molds being released every 2 years or so. That's why you get varying size, quality, and complexity between each figure. That changed with MP-10, as from there on, Masterpieces were designed to be a cohesive line.

Initially, Hasbro didn't have a numbering system for Masterpiece and just had a name for each figure. This changed with Acid Storm who was numbered "MP-01"

    20th Anniversary Optimus Prime (Takara's MP-1)
20th Anniversary DVD Edition Optimus Prime
Masterpiece Starscream (Takara's MP-3 with a more accurate G1 color)
    Masterpiece Skywarp (Takara's MP-6)
Masterpiece Grimlock (Takara's MP-8 with some changes)
Masterpiece Rodimus Prime (Takara's MP-9 with some changes)
Masterpiece Optimus Prime (Takara's MP-10 with very minor changes)
Year of the Horse Optimus Prime (Takara's MP-10 with a different paint job)
Masterpiece Thundercracker (Takara's MP-11 with a Thundercracker paint job)
Masterpiece Soundwave (MP-02) (Takara's MP-13 PLUS all the cassettes except Ratbat)
Masterpiece Acid Storm (MP-01) (Takara's MP-11 with an Acid Storm paint job)
Masterpiece Grimlock (MP-03) (Very minor change from Takara's MP-08)
Masterpiece Prowl (MP-0?) (unknown what how similar he will be to Takara's MP-17, but most assume they'll be identical)
Masterpiece Sunstorm (MP-0?) (Takara's MP-11 with a similar (but not identical) paint job to MP-11S)

TL;DR: The Soundwave you want is the Hasbro version, or if you can get the Takara for cheap then hunt down the individual cassettes you want. Takara's Thundercracker and both Skywarps are from the older MP-3 mold, while Hasbro's Thundercracker is from the newer MP-11 mold. Most people think the MP-11 mold is better, but a lot of people are perfectly happy or even prefer the older MP-3. Those who prefer the MP-11 are hoping Takara will finally release an MP-11 based Skywarp soon so that their Seekers will match

All what he typed was correct except for this ^^^^ YOTH Optimus Prime does not fall under the Masterpiece label. YOTH Prime is just that YOTH Prime. While it does use the MP-10 mold it is not and never was part of the Masterpiece line. NOW, if YOU chose to use it as "MP" Prime that is your prerogative but again it is not and never was intended to be part of the MP line up.

Yep, he doesn't, that's why I removed "Masterpiece" from his name. I just added it in case he was interested in getting other MP-10 molds.

But yes, YOTH OP is not released as Masterpiece, so everyone quit bellyaching that it "stole" a Masterpiece slot.

LOL I noticed that but didn't stop to think that may have been the reason that MP was not before his title. Welp, ummm..... I see you're on top of it so I'll just show myself out.

    BTW +1
