That altmode is sexy AF.
Ain't it tho? I'll always love mp3.
It saddens me that we may never see the likes of MP-03s F-15 alt-mode ever again. A decade and a half later it's still the finest jet mode we've seen and, you know what, the compromises made to the robot mode really aren't that bad. Extra panels on the arms, bits hanging off the shoulder vents and, as some 3rd parties have shown, the scabbards hanging off the sides could have been integrated into the legs. Obviously the stylistic choices made with the robot mode don't hold up now but man, I'd love for someone to take a shot at an MP seeker that held a candle to that jet mode while also being as toon accurate as that would allow. I still feel like there's something untapped there.
As for MP-52... Hot Take: I still can't decide whether he'll stay or go. Those people saying the competition between MP-52 and DS-01 is a slam dunk one way or the other must be seeing something I'm not. Pros/cons are pretty evenly split imho. Official Thundercracker will be here soon though - this might be one competition that plays out across all 3 seekers. May the best team win!
A WIP of an funny Meme
lots a greenscreen bleeding and I've recently asked the chad @OptimusTimelord for a Background of a beach from the episode "Masquerade"
I just posted MP-52 sealed in my sales thread if anyone is interested. FYI
What dimmed my enthusiasm was the hindrances to leg articulation, which is something MP-52 improved upon.
I do think there’s room for Takara in the future to have another go years from now with a more realistic F-15 mode that can pose just as good, if not better than MP-52. The only company I can think of right now that might be able to make an MP- scale Starscream with the most realistic F-15 mode is Arcadia, BUT I doubt it would pose as well as MP-52(might be on the level of MP-11) and it would probably cost $400(licensing out from Takara + Boeing and taking into account any Macross Valkyrie they made close in size like their VF-0 and YF-19 which carried MSRPs between $250-300+).
Crazy how far we've come. I really don't get the size complaints either. Never heard a single complaint about mp3/11's height until recently.
bought some syringes with really fine needles and just injected my mp52 didn't have much success getting enough polish in those ankles it did help him stand but any other pose wouldn't work but this got it right in there so fingers crossed i will post a running pose later need to have a quick look at those knees too if i have time today
decided to sell MP-52 today
Indeed. Boxing mine up over this weekend too. Just undecided to go KO or Crimson.
looking back , collecting MP just burn too much of money and space. Go with legends now
My only problem i have is with the thumbs. Not sure what to do with them when i want to do a open hand pose
Yea, when you can get one from a company that makes KOs at half the price it's kind of a no brainer. I respect those that still go Takara because they prefer the authenticity, but for me it's just not worth the extra $100 or so. My two cents.
Just posted a couple in my Toon Backgrounds thread
Are you using Photoshop? Pretty easy to get rid of the green, let me know if you need a hand!
While I'm here, some appreciation for Starscream's new body...
Eyy thanks mate!
You should use mp3 or mp11 as his "old body."
Pretty sure he did
So stretching the spring for the knee ratchet helped a tiny bit but not great so I'm building up a few layers of polish on the bottom of this to try and push the ratchet teeth a tiny bit closer....they really needed to use a better spring and bigger/deeper teeth...Shame none of the mp11 springs fit they are proper strong and have a few laying about
