Are there pics earlier in the thread about using the thrusters the way you describe? I feel like I skimmed past some but I can't find them...

I posted a pic a while ago how how you can give him a steady base by pulling the thrusters back(the whole thruster and not just the flap) so that the foot and thruster make a / \ shape instead of / |. Totally eliminated the need for the ankles to be super tight for me. The only catch is that you might need to check for cracks around the base the thruster since it appears some have them there

I've had DS-01 in hand for a couple of days now and here's the thing: MP-52 is the better figure, but it's close. VERY close.

The paint finish, heft, face sculpts and jet mode compromises all end up pretty much equal. Again, saying this as someone who has both in front of me right now. What gives MP-52 a slight edge is actually pretty hard to quantify but it's there. Maybe we should just call it the Takara factor.*

Unfortunately for MP-52 there are three key areas where someone is going to opt for DS-01, regardless of this. 1. The size. 2. The articulation (though how successful you think the waist rotation is could be up for debate) and 3. The price.

    1. is the reason I'll be selling MP-52 but your milage may vary.

If you can afford it, you prefer the better ab-crunch of MP-52 over the swivel and less elegant ab-crunch of DS-01 AND you're happy with the size of MP-52 then congratulations - you have the (slightly) better figure.

Hell though, it's great to have options!

    * something that seems to be missing on their Cliffjumper imho.

Nothing wrong with that. If MP52 was not a thing I would have picked it up as well. Crimson looks really good.

All this talk about mp52 being short just confuses me…I seem to recall taking several comparison pics with mp11 and MT Meteor and the height difference is negligible. (Forgive me if some of these pics were previously posted):

In the pic below the seekers in the back (mp11SW KO and MT Lighting) are standing on MP52’s stand to be tall enough for the pic!

Anyway so I decided to try some pics that were straight up side by side and back to back and while there is a slight difference to each figure it really is mere centimetres and hardly worth all the fuss…

mp11’s knees, waist and shoulders line up but his giraffe turtleneck makes his head stick up…

MT Meteor is slightly taller but hardly enough to make a fuss…

If anything I have now come to the conclusion that MT Meteor is a tiny bit too tall. All 3 are certainly within acceptable “mp scale” size. Also MP52 is simply a JOY to pose and play with compared to the other two. Such a huge difference in fun factor! :)

Yeah, I see no problem with MP-52's height either. That and the horrific paint-chipping on some DS copies made me really glad to cancel that thing. I know disaster may sound hyperbolic to some for how I describe DS-01, but as someone who subconsciously never lets even the SLIGHTEST imperfection go unnoticed, shit like I saw on that by comparison would just make me go ballistic. Also now that it's in-hand and we're getting better photos of it, the proportions and some of the color changes on it aren't as appealing to me as they initially were, and the almost pure white on it is just eugh, IMO. The only thing for me that it has going for it is the price, which is VERY nice in comparison to a lot of other stuff these days. So yeah, 2 sets of official Seekers aren't cheap, but for me at least, the experience will be worth it. Again, best wishes to anyone going with DS01, not trying to discourage any of you. I'm just fucking neurotic as hell with this hobby, hahahaha.

They didnt do a great job on their Mirage's paintjob, so I dot know if sitting it out and letting it cure will make a difference. That said I haven't really had any problems with 52, just some rub under the fake cockpit.

Mirage I had some very tiny problems with on my copy but nothing crazy like his newer cohort, fortunately. Moreso his QC was what got to me, though thankfully I somehow was able to fix that (loose kneecap and the screw wasn't really helping, originally). MP-52 #1 (full disclosure I have yet to get MP-52 #2, soon though...) which is here right next to me has a very tiny chip on his left kneepad and 2 tiny yet noticeable from a distance chips on his bot-mode cockpit. Aside from those very minuscule pieces he's still fucking fantastic, undeniably.

This is TFW. Have you seen all the fussiness over Kingdom Galvatron’s shoulders? I’m pretty sure the mis-assembled version’s shoulders are a few mm lower than the correctly assembled version and people are not buying the figure over it.

I have no idea where I'm going to put him. My Starscream shelf is packed. Earthrise and the 2 Studio Series (2007 and ROTF) are on different shelves.

Just received my Screamer from BBTS and I'm happy to say there are no significant QC issues I've found so far. All faces and accessories are correct and the paint is flawless, including small details like the faces. The feet are not floppy loose, but won't hold weight on their own. However they are fine for my posing needs. He does have the small crack around the right tail fin right out of the box as many have experienced. Also appears to have two left wing-folding hinges, which is barely noticeable to me (and I tend to be pretty OCD about details). Overall, I'm very relieved and now looking forward to TC and SW more than ever!
