Interesting he says there's a lot of diecast in the torso and crotch. That true? Haven't seen anyone else mention it.

 

Half-Assed Review time!

First impressions:

Comes with quite a few accessories and I thought it looked a bit smaller than I would think


Jet mode:

Nice and solid yet slightly hefty due to some die cast metal parts, admittedly the nose cone is a lil on the short side but I don't really care, The Tail fins are nice and solid and won't flop around like MP-11 or MT Meteor, and the underside kibble kinda looks lazy in design but it's not too far off from the animation model either so I can let it slide. What I don't like is that the jets feel a bit loose when extended and it's noticeably worse when you plug in the jets effects so it's hard to keep it streamline.


Transformation:

Surprisingly easy tbh

Construction feels quite light, mostly in the wings, so I exercise caution anyways in case I snap em or something despite that there doesn't feel like anything will stress or break, also the instructions tell you to go through the Gerwalk mode to get to the Robot mode but almost everything tabs in securely except for the shoulder intakes not tabbing into the backpack ,but that doesn't effect the solidity of the robot mode. Overall nice and stress free and doesn't feel like anything will break.


Robot mode:

Spitting image of the animation model, which feels nice and solid as fuck, which is something that both MP-11 and (to an extent) MT Meteor fail at and he looks so much better compared to them, and the backpack doesn't look or feel like it's floppy or nothing tabbing anywhere, it cleans up pretty nicely but I can still see the blue tail fins sticking out like a sore thumb but at least it made an effort to clean up, unlike fuckin' MP-45 Bumblebee v2 lol. And yes the faux cockpit is cast in translucent orange plastic as I originally feared, but the paint on it isn't mis coloured as we saw on Takara's tweets so that put my mind at ease, but I'm still careful with trying not to chip the paint on it. He looks so succulent when paired with MP-36 Megatron, and I think the height is pretty accurate imo as he's the same height as. MT meteor and MP-11, as for the articulation he's got a nice range of mobility and the individually articulated fingers feel nice and he's able to flip the robo-bird at Megatron, and yes I still would liked to have a waist swivel on it as he's somewhat limited in that regard but I think the ab crunch and the faces make up for that as he's so emotive! However he's a little hard to stand due to the ankle pivots and the foot bends are a somewhat loose and you might have to mistransform the shins to get his feet move up quite far.

As for the compatibility of the coronation gear, from MP-11, he does have tabs in the shoulders for the paldrons but I can't seem to get them to fit in, and considering that the Jetron campaign for the new Coronation gear straight up reuses the cape and shoulder paldrons, It makes me wonder if the tabs on those will fit in better.


Overall:

I think it's another win for Takara, a nice update to the MP-11 mould and has a nice shelf presence and he's very solid in both modes, with an complex yet easy transformation

Final thoughts:
Strong recommendation from me and it makes me even more hyped for MP-52+ Thundercracker and MP-52+SW Skywarp to even out the MP Decepticons with the Autobots.


Question is how the flying heck am I going to display all of em on my tiny MP shelf?

Yeah I noticed the chest and shoulder intakes at least appear to be diecast. Not sure about the crotch, but if the guy says so it’s probably true.
