It's glorious! I mean I'm a full-toon t**d as good as the next, and I love them keeping the external surfaces clean, refined and toon accurate, but i just love seeing this stuff inside! Taken to a new level here with different colour painting just for hidden internal detail!   Who says MPs are lazy and bland?

Kinda feels something like that scene when Tracks (I think) pops his hood and it's full of crazy tech inside.

 

Man it just looks better and better with each new photo. Just exactly how I always wanted my Starscream to look.

The magazine photos are without a doubt overexposed. The stock photos are definitely a tad underlit too as others have mentioned; for instance I'm sure the mini Megatron will not be this dark but rather a better match for MP-36:



Don't go by the Hasbro Pulse photos without being careful though, here's an example of what they did to some of them (TT on left, Pulse on right):

Wow! I see a lot of screws... that makes me happy... for some reason? Flush pins make a figure hard to take apart.

 

Also before we get "mUhHh ThE pAiNt Is CoMiNg OfF bEfOrE iT's EvEn ReLeAsEd" comments, these latest shots appear to use the same or similar hand painted prototype as seen before, same scuff mark on the bot mode canopy.

 

Need some advice from anyone that pre-ordered with Anime Export. I've paid for my pre-order via Paypal, but I don't see my order listed in my account on their website. Does it only show up when they ask you to pay for shipping down the road, as I still see my previous orders? It's been a while since I ordered with them. I email earlier in the week, but no response.

 

This is the first Masterpiece in a very, very long time that I actually have any interest in owning. Anyone heard whether or not Target might be stocking them in store? Not that I couldn’t get him online, but I prefer finding them on a shelf when possible.

 

If you mean a US retail release, that won't be happening. Rather than "Hasbro version" retail exclusives, Hasbro is now just importing the TakaraTomy product with an extra slipcover over the packaging. They're sold through Hasbro Pulse, BBTS, TF Source, and other online retailers.

You won't find an MP on shelves unless you're in Japan or one of the countries that Hasbro Asia distributes to for retail sale.

 

G1 Masterpiece hasn't had a retail release in the West since MP18.

You'll only find Movie Masterpiece on the shelves here.

 

It's weird for me knowing so much of the transformation beforehand, but it's kind of cool we were all able to piece it together. It's crazy how good they can get this guy to look with what looks to be a relatively simple transformation.

 

No kidding. I’ve been tracking pins versus screws and I’m very happy about that. I think the size helps out in this case.

So the tailfins end up sandwiching between the wings in robot mode? Holy cow, how come none of the third party guys thought of that?!  

 

When I first started looking into pre-ordering, I added MP-52 in cart multiple times since I didn't realize I was using web browsers on multiple devices. So I had multiple MP52s in my account showing UNPAID. So I finally paid for ONE preorderd on Oct 16th. A couple days later, all the UNPAID listings were gone, but the one I paid for never showed up. I have been checking daily since then, but nothing.

 

The jet nose transformation looks pretty sweet! It looks like it separates and folds up with three sections at least.

Edit: I believe I've figured out how it transforms but it's difficult to explain. Simple, yet smart transformation. Basically the front of the nose up to the first section of the canopy separates from the back half of the nose. Folds open using the bottom of the nose as the hinge, then the tip of the nose rotates 90 degrees and flips in so it's sandwhiched between the two halves of the nose. Then most of the canopy ends up right behind the fake one as we knew already. Pretty cool stuff and I can't wait to try it out!

 

I just noticed how close the head seems to fit against the forearms in jet mode. I hope that doesn't bode ill for the chances of a Conehead retool...I know I shouldn't worry yet, I'm sure they'll figure out something  

 

So confirmed without a doubt no waist joint I guess - Jobby is going to be pissed.
