Maybe I’m seeing things but I think there could be an internal waist swivel beneath the pelvis behind the red plate, so that you’ll only see the legs torque with it as opposed to seeing an actual waist joint twisting, if that makes sense.

I know I'm getting older but dang, these things are getting crazy expensive. Plus, the Hound was borderline bland, this Starscream is painful. The second mold is beautiful. That said, my son is telling me now he loves the Beast Wars figures.

Looks like you can see the red of the hip through the forearm. I wonder why there are slots on each side of the arm. Maybe it's for tabbing in in jet mode?

It looks like some kind of photoshop issue. I can't imagine that would be lined up so perfectly to see the red straight through from the other side like that

However, the alt mode (s) ARE detailed, contrary to your belief that the current MP toys are "toy accurate", when they aren't. It's only really the bot modes that are.

Agreed. It’s this kind of restraint from TT that I love with these figures.

Like Inferno’s shins give me the sense that they would be strong metal plates or some such, whereas to others they are boring and flat.

For MP-52’s inner legs, I feel there’s a kind of visual interest in their overall shapes, and the way they work with other parts such as his knees and feet.

Masterful in the way that the apparent simplicity of his appearance belies the work that has gone into giving him the articulation that he has etc.

Hentai Woody is an international treasure. Still gotta pick one up of my own.

Fact: You do not have a true figure collection until you have Revoltech "Hentai" Woody.

Thank you again to all the board members who modelled, photoshopped and animated MP-52 before it was even fully revealed! @Liampope @chchchch @bigcee66 and @SelectedLime375 among others. Here is some of their hard work with the finished figure. Amazing job! I apologize if I credited the wrong people here. Please let me know if I did and I'll fix it. I'm going from memory and I'm getting old!

Not really. It's the whole point of the CURRENT official MP line, but this was not the case with the original official MP line/s, nor those of some current 3P MP figures

I wish the G1 cartoon could have had a huge budget, then Starscream could have had giant fins on his feet that would prevent him from walking and Inferno and Grapple could have had their ladder backs rendering them incapable of sitting down or doing anything else really, that would be so cool af and not lazy

    No.

The only really fake part is the chest cockpit, because it's a different shape than the one for the jet mode.

Exactly, also hiding all the wheels and jank hanging off the sides and creating smooth curved surfaces is actually way more complex than just leaving kibble everywhere. It makes the plain simplicity of robot mode more impressive.

But I mean, I get it, making the shift to cartoon-accurate. I was talking to a friend who runs a local collectible store and he brought up a great point: this fastidious cartoon accuracy is a niche among the greater market audience, with such a style being targeted squarely at dieheard fans, the same demographic that buys MPs in the first place. Meanwhile the updated, modernized takes are something that appeals more broadly, so making that the mainline makes sense as well. Granted this conversation was in regards to the BW MPs/Kingdom, but I believe the same holds true for G1. There's a market for total toon accuracy, and it's much smarter to overlap that market with MPs than mainline. Especially since Masterpiece is arguably the only line that can pull off complete toon accuracy with its higher budget and parts count.

This obviously doesn't mean you have to automatically like the toon-accurate MPs, but I'd rather this line be the home to such an aesthetic than the mainline. Fans understand that Optimus Primal was a smooth Homer Simpson gorilla more than casuals or kids, who have their own idea of what a gorilla looks like. (i.e., hairy and gorilla-like) Ditto more G1 fans appreciate the idiosyncrasies and simplicity of the cartoon models over that same causal group who may not understand why Optimus looks so smooth and basic and has no wheels or realistic windows. I mean, take away the MP budget and you have the RED figures, which look cheap and doofy and while technically accurate, fail to "legitimize" the cartoon designs the way MPs with their full paint jobs and intricate transformations do.
