Takara seems to do really bad with tiny figures, saber's brain master is just as poorly articulated, and the proportions are just barely better.

Maybe it's just the angle of that photo as it made Spike leg looks thin and Daniel leg too fat and curve.

But from this pic, it doesn't look that bad, even Spike leg looks much fatter/proportion to his body:

 

How come it is well past the year 2005, and we're not wearing monogrammed matching space jump suits?

Hover boards already exist, they made one a few months ago available to the public but they currently cost 10 grand each. They use the same magnet tech that magrail trains do and levitate about an inch off the ground. Its called the Hendo Hover, Tony Hawk got to test it out in november

Granted its not exactly marty mcflys light highly maneuverable pink thing but we'll get something like that eventually.

 

Oh wow, that transformation sequence. Very interesting how the cab can be detached, yet is also so integral to the transformation (rather than a stand-alone white Optimus Prime with add-on armor). You have to admire how the Takara designers "break apart" the cab as part of the transformation. The easier route would have certainly been to use a single boxy cab frame, like the Citizen Stack transformation sequence. It's like, "Let's take this boxy cab, AND MAKE IT TRANSFORM". There's so much material in the cab, so I'm glad the designer decided to "do" something with it.

On a side note, I still think the forearms are a bit too large, but whatevs.

Of course, it wouldn't surprise me if later on, Takara decides to make a modified stand-alone MP-10 cab that could be connected to the carrier's arms and legs. Just folder it up into a boxy mid-section, and attach a newly designed front chest piece and head. Wishful thinking? I don't know, but it seems do-able.

 

Let's not be forgetting them fishing rods.

 

I guess I don't see much to "ooh" and "ahh" over about the transformation. It's essentially an upscaled G1 with posable legs. The cab still plugs in behind the trailer bed. The arms fold up in pretty much the same way. Feet fold out the same way. For me, this is the least interesting MP so far.

 

The G1 respect head underneath confuses me.... Do the "battle mask" and neck form a mouth?

 

It's to accommodate Daniel's birthing hips.

Magnus looks awesome. Bring it.

 

The other side of the coin is in hand these figures will be tiny, so the problems won't be quite so obvious.

 

Or just left in the box.

Just saw on HLJ, that they are listing UM as a January release.

 

A couple of days, especially at that time of year where it will just sit in a warehouse somewhere en route isn't a killer.

 

Ultra Magnus looks awesome and the transformation nicely references the G1 toy but adds so many twists and neat touches. The way the forearms and hands work is very clever and I like how the cabs just flattens to get rid of the bulk. Can't wait!

Why oh why can't they put any eyes onto the Spike and Daniel figures though? Their faces have a weird 'melted' quality to them without any details to break them up. Will have to crack out the pilot pen again.

Wow. The latest photos are amazing. The more and more I see of this guy, the more excited I become. I do love this point shortly before a figure's release, when the hype starts ramping up.

I'm so glad you posted this, as Daniel & Spike do look bloody terrible in those other photos. Let's hope that whatever we receive looks more like the photo you've posted...
