Hard to say. If it drops beyond 120, it may go up to 145 super quickly. That's all totally speculation though, it may suddenly strengthen too to around 114-115. At 145 though, it's the beginning of the end ...........

 

Grumble, starting to regret paying UK 120 for this back in September.

Thanks for the heads up! Are there any conversion fees from banks or paypal when using HLJ? I notice they say they only deal with Yen while NY states it accepts a couple types of currency for preorders. Obviously this is in stock at HLJ and not NY, I'm just asking for future reference.

 

I pay with PayPal on HLJ and I just pay the value of the item in my currency, no extra fees for converting the currency. And I never heard them doing that, at all.

Also HLJ's giving you a simple conversion right on the item page, so you see directly what you pay in Euros or Dollars for it.

 

Never had a conversion fee when I used it before, as far as I can recall.

 

Paypal has their own conversion rate (not a fee) that converts the yen to dollar. Their conversion rate is always worse (in my experience) than the current rate is. Within Paypal, if you're paying via a Credit Card you can specify to use your credit card's exchange rate / conversion fee rather than Paypal's (this is good if you don't get charged a foreign transaction fee).

Credit Cards sometimes charge a foreign transaction fee. Which tends to be 3% (I think) of the total purchase. Some credit cards promote the fact they don't charge this.

Some banks may just do the exchange with no fee too, depending on your bank.

Thanks for the responses, everyone! I only just made my first purchase with NY last week and while a number of people bring it up a lot (it's how I knew about it in the first place), I can't shake this feeling of it seeming too good to be true in terms of saving money. Sometimes I think my spirit animal is a frightened chipmunk...

In terms of Ultra Magnus' recent photos: I like the deepness of the blue and red. I just hope the inner legs on the final product are blue as previously shown assuming that wasn't something someone photoshopped. Not a deal breaker by any stretch of the imagination though. My anticipation for Bumblebee is bleeding into my anticipation for Magnus, which is quite mighty to begin with.

 

.....aaaand they're closed again. Goddamnit!! Those are some small windows of opportunity. This one was for about four hours. Just about to pre-order, then...

I have no idea where I'm gonna buy this from. Ugghhh.

Does anyone know if etoysjapan has decent shipping prices to the U.S.? They're yet another store halfway across the globe that won't provide a shipping estimate when you pre-order.

I would keep an eye on HLJ though, they do open Pre-orders up more often.

 

Definitely wasn't photoshopped. We saw the blue/white painted legs in Generations 2014 vol 2, in kobayashi's hands in another magazine article and on the cover of the MP Guide Book if you look closely. This must have been back in summer. The 'latest' photos with red legs in Dengeki Jan 15 are ancient photos - really disappointing waste of an article.

So my money is still on the blue/white legs being what we will get in the end. Hope so!

 

i have been using etoys japan since the lambo brothers, and i have never felt gouged by their shipping. HOWEVER, those were all small packages (one mp car at a time), so i cant say for sure what magnus will by like as far as shipping is concerned. i am actually waiting to see what he will be shipped, before i put in my preorder with them for star saber
