i just don't understand the brown.. why brown?!! why couldn't they just bring over the takara version?.. or something closer to it. i just don't get it. oh well.. i'd only get this if it was on clearance.. but we all know how long it takes TRU to put stuff on clearance..
I'm willing to bet that, like Acid Storm, this is one that likely looks better in hand than from the promo shots. I really think that "brown" is likely a metallic-looking bronze. I wish it was the Takara version, but this is acceptable.
Oh I completely agree. Have a real funny feeling that opinion will change once people have it in hand.
Approximately, but not exactly. MP Grimlock had a CDN release date of 6/1 on the website but he showed up in US stores a week or so before that.
Kinda eager to add him to my seeker collection. He will be "nameless yellow seeker" instead of Sunstorm to me.
Shit, even if the release date is sooner it´s impossible to make an order with Optimus Prime with international shipping (i´ve made a test with stomp grimlock, a pre order item), and the offer won´t last forever.
I just don't get it. Why is Hasbro giving us these generic Seekers when we still don't have a US release of MP-11 Starscream or Skywarp? I think I'll pass like I did on Acid Storm.
I love my Hasbro MPSS but I would buy the new mold in an SS deco Stateside in a heartbeat to replace it as opposed to any of these no go, off color clones that have no place in my masterpiece collection. I almost bought Acidstorm but the camo killed it.
Hasbro has seemed very reluctant to re-release figures, even if they came out 10 years ago & fans are clamoring for them. (Classics Skywarp anyone?) Repaints are okay, but not full-on reissues. Starscream and Skywarp were released - and ended up being clearanced both times. A couple of notes, however: - MP Grimlock being re-released is a very good sign! - Someone needs to tell the higher-ups at Hasbro and TRU that the MP-03 and MP-11 molds are significantly different. I don't think they realize.
I think the problem is that the MP line didn't catch on right away, hence why many of those figures ended up on clearance but are now selling for nearly double the retail value. I remember seeing Starscream and Skywarp in stores back when they first came out, but I'll admit at the I time didn't know enough about them to take any interest in them. I felt they were too oversized to scale with "normal" figures and passed, not realizing just how better engineered they are compared to other lines. And you may be right in that they don't realize how significantly different MP-11 and MP-03 are.
Seeing this photo, I feel like he'll look a lot better in person. Now whether or not I want to get a yellow seeker to go with Acid Storm and Thundercracker is another story. Yellow is my favourite colour so Takara's Sunstorm was definitely tempting but they do take up a lot of space which I am currently running out of. I'm thinking I should probably pass on this guy and find myself an MP Grimlock instead.
