How likely is it these guys will sell out? They are a little out of my budget right now and I want to wait. But I really don’t want to miss out
Hard to tell but I guess the knee. To reach it looks like you have to remove the panel on the inner part of the leg, that seems to be secured by two screws, and... Another frickin' pin. He sent his supplier my photo showing where the problem is, but it's too early to know what they will send.
I was able to swap Starscream's leg with a defective one. I think I was able to unscrew the thigh enough to get it off and swap it. But it's been a few months.
I took my time and decided to transform him for some quick shots, and he is absolutely STUNNING! The obligatory group shot! And this one with my original release Shockwave. Took them out to the balcony for some natural light, and this is the unedited result straight from the camera of my phone.
Took this earlier and it looks like a good approximation of Skywarp in hand. Never known a figure like him! Such a bugger to get close to the right representation.
Exactly! Examining your photo, it looks like I only have to take the two screws on inner part of the lower leg, and pull out the half which has the stabilizer. Seems easier than I thought. Thank you! Edit: is it necessary to separate both halves of the knee cap, or can it be detached from the leg without taking out the screw?
You’ll have to remove every screw to take the leg apart at the upper thigh and knee part. It’s real easy, only keeping watch for the spring and moving the lower leg piece that holds most of it together. You’ll have to bend it a little but not much and won’t cause any flashing.
Ok I get it. But I only have to go through all that if I want to change the complete lower leg. Since the problem with mine is just the rear stabilizer, I guess I can get away with just changing the panel on outside of leg, and for that I would only have to take two screws out. I took the liberty of using your photo just to highlight the panel I'm referring to. On a complete different matter, I just had to try this one out! It's not perfect, but it was the best I could do to try to recreate that iconic scene from the opening credits.
Looks like the previous 2 are still available at quite a few stores, so I'd say you probably have at least a few months before it becomes a hassle to find.
Remember the knee vents as well and the spring inside the knee. That’s your first step. It’s pretty easy.
Just received my Skywarp from TCP today and he really looks great. I especially like the choice of a the dark charcoal versus a straight black. I wonder if one of the reasons they shifted to a darker purple was because of how much of the purple is painted over black plastic for a more consistent look instead of risking bleed in a lighter shade. The null rays especially are why I'm thinking this as a possibility
