in all seriousness, there isn't really any difference beyond the paint scheme and the packaging - unless you are specifically into the jap toys, or you loath the hasbro colour scheme for whatever reason - i'd go for the hasbro one any day and spend the change on hookers and booze.

Takara Skywarp looks a lot better, still going to pick up a Hasbro version.

Anyone want my extra Takara version.

Honestly, the main reason that I forgot about this is because I was not reminded about it when messing with the figure. I would probably put the quality somewhere between the Takara Skywarp and Hasbro Starscream. The plastic looks stronger - partly due to the solid dark colour - and I dont feel as nervous when transforming him as I do with Hasbro Starscream. He is a little weaker than the Takara versions, in terms of the feel of the plastic and the build quality in general, in my opinion. The only real worry above the 'average worry of Takara' is the upper body slide. The Takara MP Seeker torsos feel more solid, but the wings feel better than the Hasbro Starscream.

I saw about 15 of these today. They look great at a distance but when you look at the silver paint, almost all had dings or scratches.

Did the Walmart MP Starscream ever go on sale or clearance? I'm wondering if this skywarp will eventually get cheaper.

I sure wish I could find any Masterpiece anything at the Wal-Marts in the Detroit Metro Area. All I have is 6 shelves of ROTF Wheelie and 3 Shelves of Animated Oil Slick. And why doesn't the Hasbro Site sell their entire product line? That would make too much sense.

Not really. Then the retailers wouldn't get as much money.

Got this guy last night, a HUUUUGE improvement over the Hasbro Starscream. Starscream had lots of loose joints, the plastic felt like model plastic thats easy to crack, and the stand was incredibly wobbly.

Skywarp has none of these problems. The black plastic feels MUCH stronger and im not afraid the transform him like i was with Starscream. Also the black is a very nice rich black color, it almost has a metallic sheen to it in the right light, looks very nice. The paint is amazing, very clean and metallic and shiney. I love the gunmetal on the feet and arms.

Overall just a much better figure than the Starscream, but they both look awesome together.

I too prefer the smirk, it's the difference in the normal face I don't like. I prefer Takara Skywarp's normal face to Hasbro Starscream/Skywarp's normal face. Takara's has less curvy lips, different shaped eyes, and nose. The curvy lips scream pretty boy Starscream to me. Either way, you can't lose. I guess it's better to have the smirk face and the slightly worse normal face than the really bad angry face and the slightly better normal face.

I will pickthis up i guess, my only worry is the joint where the main wings fold up into robot mode.

On mine at least, that joint was pretty tight, but strongly so, didnt feel like I would break anything.

What mess, you mean the fragile wings that the Takara starscreams suffer from too, and is a problem caused by the sculpt and mold takara created?

Ended up finding this guy at Wal-Mart. Apparently you have to look for him on the other side of the store from the Toy Section. Can't put him down though. I love it. I'm dying to mod that nose cone, but I'm afraid I'll mess up the paint entirely. Any tips to get it Purple again?

Found Skywarp tonight, and I really love how this version turned out. The decepticon symbols on the wings are too dark compared to the black wings, but that is my only complaint.

Everything was tight and transforming was a breeze. So refreshing after transforming Yamato's VF-1 version 2 valks.
