Shockwave looks perfect. Just amazing work.

Visually, the new Hot Rod seems to not really have anything on MP-09 other than the hands and overall scale. MP-09 seems a closer match to the animation to me. That said, I'm sure they are doing their best to make sure this one is extra-sturdy and QC free.

Do we really need another Hot Rod MP? The QC issues on the original mold were apparently fixed with subsequent re-releases so that point is somewhat moot. Also, MP-9 changed the scale of the whole line moving forward. Not to mention the fact that MP-9 did a whole lot more, what with the whole going from Hot Rod to Rodimus Prime thing. And, if one were to ask me, the new figure's chest looks too big and his face too narrow. This figure seems wholly unnecessary.

I'd rather have seen a prototype MP Optimus Primal... or any other character that hasn't had an MP release.

    Shockwave looks pretty cool though.

Dude, chill :)  You're getting an official MP Shockwave. We all are!

As TigerBlade pointed out, it does you no credit to counter the 3P mafia with an overly-defensive defense. Really though, I don't see that much "3P is plastic Jesus" trashtalk here ... and bear in mind that it's legit to like the 3P Shockwaves over the official with objective justification.

If you want to see fanboism, feel free to pop by every Fanstoy's thread ever, in the 3P forum *ducks and runs from FT fanbois* :ev:

MP09 is Rodimus Prime so yeah, Hot Rod is nice to have :)

I know you aren't. There's an armies worth of childish behaviour and remarks in this thread. It's embarrassing to read.

My post wasn't specifically aimed at you but this anti third party 'thing' is sad. When did the enjoyment of toys get replaced with who makes them? To the point ppl are specifically lording it over other collectors saying they are now salty. Takara will always win. They own the brand and one could argue if it wasn't for companies like Fanstoys or MMC pushing Takara then we all wouldn't be excited about what has been revealed today.

EDIT - post below me. Wow. Way to hammer the nail on the head.

Am I seeing the perspective wrong, or is Shockwave short? Like more like the autobot car robots size vs. MP Decepticon size. Please someone. Tell me I am wrong about this.

lol - Ok, man. Ironhide could've been preordered from AE for $59 and he looks to be just a head shorter than Optimus and chock full of accessories. Ultra Magnus and Star Saber are enormous (12") and heavy (UM is over 3lbs) and my UM was preordered for $155 shipped. The TT MP-10 reissue was $160. Again, enormous factoring in the trailer.

Exactly how I feel. Shockwave looks like he stepped out of the cartoon. Hot Rod isn't as accurate as MP-09 due to sacrifices for size, simplicity, and stability, but still awesome ;)  Bring 'em on!

Yeah, and the point I'm making is that some 3P zombies HAVE posted passive-aggressive "Quake Wave is better" stuff here which only contributes to the flame wars.

Holy shit, some of us like both, but I think most can agree that TT MPs will almost always > 3P MPs.

Hm no they have ALL been selling for under $200 since early August.

You might be looking at july sales or the grey version.

Well ... there is the upcoming reissue that will be at regular retail and significantly less than the aftermarket prices. There'll be a Quakewave for anyone who wants him.

In a bit, there's probably going to be tons of forlorn Quakewaves moping about in their sad and sorry mono-eyed gloom, looking back at the glory days where they were prized above all and you couldn't buy one for love or money.
