I have the Takara version, I'm good Hasbro..
Huh? What does this mean?
It's just really interesting to see the space cadets in charge of Toys R Us keep following the business model that worked so well for KB Toys.
Haha, too true.
Yeah that was BS on TRU's part, hopefully these shelf warm like the X-Factor set and then get it at sale price.
Cool, I'm glad its coming over, its a good sign of Hasbro possibly bringing over more MP's. Though I already have the Takara one, and probably will stick with Takara MP's.
Glad to hear the news!
It should have been a two pack though:
Prowl and Red Alert in one box,
Blue Streak and Sideswipe in another.
Maybe G2 Sideswipe or Tigertracks and Smokescreen in a third.
Two pack for $100 woulda worked for me.
If this happens it's because of people whining so those people can pat themselves on the back for a job well done at whining.
Its just speculation, since the price doesn't seem to match up with any previous US MP releases. They all come out here at about 40% of the original Takara price, which would make the cars retail about $35. So I specualted that it might be a two pack where the second name was truncated, since we know computer listings have short fields. See my previous posts in the thread.
There is no way that Hasbro would release the MP cars at a *HIGHER* retail price than they are in japan. Thundercracker was $60 before the TRU tax bump-up a few weeks after release.
That said, we won't know anything for sure till Toyfair, or maybe as far as botcon/SDCC, as they usually don't show retailer exclusives at toyfair.
And then we'll never see another U.S MP car release again.
I bet it gets decent distribution. It won't be as sought for as MP-10 or MP-Soundwave, and being smaller, will probably go three or four to a case instead of two. I bet it will stick around a little better in some places, like Thundercracker.
Not sure if I'll get this one, I try to stick to only my favorites for the MP line for cost reasons. Prowl's kind of borderline. I guess I'll wait and see if I run across one and what my mood is at the time.
Looks like TRU MPs may be a regular thing for a while. Sideswipe next? Or Sunstreaker? I think Wheeljack and Bee will be almost givens in about a year.
Considering I paid $50 shipped for my Takara version, I'm not losing sleep over this release.
Considering that $60 usually translates to £60 here in the UK then that makes the TT releases cheaper with postage.
If they were priced as they should be, in the 25-30 range, I'd be all over this. Not paying 60 for a deluxe sized toy, regardless of quality.
Got mine all secured already, but if they hit the UK for around £40 I might just bite to get alt modes to display - since they cost me £40 inc shipping from HLJ, I wouldn't pay over this. Hell, I'd like a Metroplex, but at £125 (approx $207) I'm just not interested. It's an insane amount of money for a mass production kids toy.

Well, BBTS is a little too expensive but even at 59.99 you still have to pay taxes. Get the Takara version, save the environment by not using gas, and enjoy your weekend by not having to hunt-down toys at TRU. So, why wait for this figure again?
You're working on the principle that Takara MP cars are $80 right. Because they aren't. They retail for around $40 domestically. It's just US retailers who mark up the price so much after the cost of importing them.
There is no way that these should have a $60 price tag. Prowl is an excellent figure but he isn't worth that much.
Seeing as a UK release would be £60, and I imported my Takara Prowl for £30 on release it just makes no sense why anyone would buy it at domestic retail.
Anyone who considers buying it at that price a saving, really doesn't know how to shop for MP toys.
They are closer to Voyager sized actually.
Hasbro always able to get licensing from Chevy when it comes to Movieverse toys, The other car companies not so much. But someone told me Nissan has a great relationship with Takara, but it seems the Nissan is will to offer Licensing to Hasbro no problem. Which makes me think Nissan is always willing to offer deals.
Ah, the ONLY reason I didn't jump on MP Wheeljack.
