Hi all,

This is just speculation and personal opinion of course, but do you see Takara and/or Hasbro creating a new mold for Optimus Prime in a few years time?

Personally, I'd love for HasTak to create both Optimus Prime and Megatron based on IDW's current "G1" designs and/or basically improve on Toyworld's Orion and Hegemon..

What are your thoughts on this?

 

Yes, he's Optimus Prime. The brand's bread and butter, expect to see one even if it's a just another update of the MP-10 mold.

 

I'm sure there will be one at some point, but I wouldn't hold your breath. MP-10 is still relatively new.

 

Updates on Mp-10 are already upon us, or rather epaints.

I'm talking about a completely new mold.

IMO, the "classic" G1 look of MP-10 really can't be improved, so a new mold will have to feature a new design, and the IDW designs seem to me the likeliest candidates..

..and I'm talking about somewhere down the line, after the "MP-10 well" has dried

Oh, there is still plenty they could do to improve MP10: Better arms and anime accurate legs for example. Takara is always going to milk the G1 design, where it's a new MP mold or different size. Maybe he'll be voyager size, maybe he'll be slightly bigger. Dunno, but a new mold of G1 Prime - at one point or another - is a guarantee.

I agree though, I'd like to see a MP IDW Prime. Though I think that it'd have to be a Hasbro lead project rather than a Takara one.
