I don't see a difference
I kind of knew this was going to happen. Too bad we'll never see real Movie Masterpiece figures.
I wouldn't say that. Yeah, this line will mostly be repaints, but I can see them releasing the occassional new mold, especially if it sells well. Hopefully Blackout will be the first on their list.
A couple more photos from Amiami.
I dont approve of this "stretching" of the Masterpiece name to things like this. Put it beside MP Prime for example, they are not even close to being the same.
Stick it with a leader Prime and it will be oh yeah he looks good there.
Leader Class Is not Masterpiece Blargh! /Rant
Okay, so no longer a pure golden color, but more of a paint that looks like actual car finish. Yeah, bought on sight.
Hasbro version: Did not want.
Takara version: OMG DO WANT!
Who knows what next summer may bring.
Its weird on a subconscious level. But now that takara tomy has acknowledged cyber ops bumblebee as the masterpiece version of the character. I can't help but sit back and think: "Yeah I guess it is." . For a lights and Sounds Toy it really is the top tier of the attempts to bring movie bumblebee to life.
So yes I plan to pick one up when I have the money sitting around.
Also for mobile fighter G Gundam fans bumblebee can do the Special Attack: Shining Finger!
So is this MP Movie Bumblebee the Japanese release of the Ultimate Battle Ops Bumblebee, or is it entirely a different figure altogether?
The first part of your question
It's the MOVIE Masterpiece line. It's like a "best-of" the movie moulds.
It's kind of cool that we're (US) basically getting "MP" figures over here for a fraction of the cost of the Takara versions. These (Bee and SS) are the same damn thing with different paint jobs. I'm assuming he'll be more than the $60 US price tag--that'll probably be clearanced for close to half that price down the line.
I find it a bit strange that they are taking a previously released TF, putting a much better paint job on it, with a few more details, then release it as a Masterpiece. Great business! Bad for those who have only a few dollars to spend. Although, I would pass on this anyway.
How is this strange? It's for a different market with products that was never released there. This is for them, the Japanese market. And being a Movie Masterpiece line, it has a different target consumer.
I realize that it's distinct from the main Takara MP designation. Please don't mistake what I said for more "NO MOOVEH TOYZ IN MAH MASTAHPEESE" hate.
I'm just saying I don't think it's quite the level of toy that merits the word "masterpiece". OTOH, I feel Leader Starscream is.
I feel that it is way to early for this... I just hope at some point they make some masterpiece figures out of something from the beast era. Like Primal or Transmetal 2 Megs. Now that would really give me a run for my money. That would be way better than another movie Bumblebee.
I have to agree with this. It does look like the most accurate Bumblebee (the hip pieces especially are terrific), but it needs some more extra touches to be perfect. Thicker legs, wheels in the middle of the feet, wrists, the smaller pair of wings, rearlights on his back...
Wake me up when they make a MP Blackout.
