Is that the same figure as the shiny goldish Battle Ops Bumblebee that there were pictures of a while ago?
Woo hoo.....yet another Bumblebee.....How about stopping Masterpiece productions of oversaturated characters and give me something different to be excited about like, I don't know, a Masterpiece Soundwave or Prowl or Shockwave or Hound or...you get the point.
man this rebranding of figures into the masterpiece line is getting ridiculous. Starscream was one thing, a cool idea but BB? talk about seriously over-saturating the market with a character. come one takara, get to wokr on the next real MP after Rodimus. we need a Galvatron. Hell i'd even be happy with any other character than re-releases of movie figs. guess ill just have to keep dreaming
Whats up with all the Bee heat? In Japan Bumblebee was not released as much as the states. Plus Japan never had a large movie Bee.
Not sure. It's not the exact same toy with the same paint aps, but it could be a progression of the same thing. At first I was sure they were different toys, but comparing the pictures I'm becoming less sure. But these are some differences. 1. Seemed pretty clear the other was gold- but looking at the picture again I'm less certain if it really was gold or just a funny color picture. 2. The end of the gun barrel on the toy shown in China was chrome- this isn't. 3. The fingers on the toy shown in China were not painted, these are. There are a few more differences- but if the other toy isn't actually gold- these very well could just be variations as they sort out how they're decorating the toy. Not sure what to think now. I will probably get this, but I really don't want a repeat of Buster Prime where weeks after I get mine, a better Chinese variation is revealed. Either way, I'm looking forward to more better pictures. I would really like a full body yellow paint job (like the BT toys used to have). I was pretty sure the Gold version would have that, I'm less sure if this one will.
Kinda cool I guess? I wasn't going to buy Cyber Ops BB, but I have to now I suppose if I want to keep up masterpiece completism. That's kinda disappointing though I kinda want a painted-not-clear blaster hand too
Plus since TakaraTomy was primarily behind the design of this figure, it makes sense for it to be released in Japan. BTW I don't think the repainting and rebranding of movie figures has any bearing on the primary Masterpiece line. The Movie Masterpieces are just repaints. I highly doubt that they are blocking the release and r/d of future Masterpiece TF's post-Rodimus.
Solid stripes but i doubt they added the rear spoiler. ..and i look forward to a wave of complaints from people who have fooled themselves that the design of this thing has denied them a G1 Masterpiece it's probably also why Hasbro havent put out a classics seeker seven pack at an srp of twenty bucks as well.
As long as they get superior Takara paint jobs I'm probably ok with that. But it may not go that way. Buster Prime (who so far isn't technically a MP- but people have been calling him that for a year), SS, and Battle ops BB so far are 3 of the very best engineered toys associated with ROTF. I was expecting this. I don't know if I'm expecting all leaders from the next movie to get the special premium treatment or not. It is unfortunate that Takara's movie MP line so far consists of toys not engineered quite as well as the main MP line (BB especially needed just a little more thought and a few less gimmicks- but he's still one of the very best BB toys so far). But these are still all very, very, very well put together toys. I do hope that at some point we get some original real MP quality molds for this line- like maybe finally Blackout or Bonecrusher. I'd have no problem at all paying in the $150-$200 range regular MP's seem to go for to get really nice versions of those characters, and I wouldn't be surprised if they'd perform just as well in the Japanese market as traditional MP toys have. I'm pleased Takara has begun moving this direction.
Pretty sure I do see the pin striping still (look where it ends on the chest panels). But until we get a clearer picture you could argue either way I guess.
If they hadn't released Buster Prime already, he'd probably be in the MP line, too. When I got my BOBB, I started thinking they would make it a masterpiece in Japan. It's pretty cool. (except for the cannon arm)
