I remember reading a walk through on someone who had taken a G1 Metroplex and updated it with new joints and articulated hands and a new paint job that turned out great and really had some good ideas that were easy to follow. I was almost sure it was on this site, but I can't find it now. Does anyone remember this guide and if so can they point me too it? Thanks
It was actually originally on Transtopia. We don't have it in our resources (one of the few things we were unable to preserve). If anyone has it, we'd be glad to host it, since we do have most everything else. What I'd like to see is someone create a new one
I HAD it, not sure if I still do or not, but I did at one point any way. I just never posted it because its author has dropped off the face of the earth. Everyone who worked with him has tried contacting him over the last several years and not ever gotten any response of any kind.
That sucks. I have two Metroplexes that are just begging me to try that mod. I really wish there were more WIP's, guides, "walkthroughs" ect. on here.
Well if you're wanting to do this project, why not just take the plunge and do it? While you're at it, take some wip photos and make a tutorial
I can wholeheartedly second this notion! I just spoke to ROTF The Fallen about this idea, and he gave it a thumbs up! All eight thumbs, in fact!
I guess I'm a bit scared. I've never made a custom before and was hoping to have a follow along until I get the hang of it. Also, I don't have a lot of money to spend on "trial and error". Also, I kinda wanted to start on something smaller first just to try and get the hang of it. I still might try it, and if I do I will defiantly take plenty of WIP pics. Still though, if anyone has that guide I would be very happy.
I'd say you're on the right track to start out with some smaller-scale projects and work your way up to this (as a "goal" of sorts). It's obvious you want to do this, and if you do things this way, you'll end up with some cool projects while honing your skills at the same time Whatever route you take, keep us posted on your progress!
Most of the tutorials are lost. even the awesomized Armada seeker tutorial. Anything that's left should be on sector70.com (not a plug)
Actually, most of what Transtopia had you'll find here. When Transtopia folded, the Radicons Staff worked tirelessly to preserve what we could of Transtopia. We were very successful, save for a handful of tutorials (pretty much the ones mentioned in this thread).
Yeah, the really long tutorials were pretty much impossible to save. I tried with a few and gave up halfway through, now i'm beating myself up over it.
Yeah, to my knowledge, the only ones we don't have up are this Metroplex tutorial and that Armada Skywarp tutorial. We have everything else. We'd have these two as well if we could get ahold of Pepie to get his permission to post them.

yeah, I have the metro one on my HDD somewhere, and the photos to the arm seeker one on here somewhere too, I just didn't get all that massive massive wall of text that goes with it . *L* No one has been able to reach Pepie in over 2 years now, he's vanished without a trace.
