Say what you will, but it's impressive that TT managed to achieve a boxy chest (albeit too wide front-to-back), while also keeping the top of the gun's slide/barrel rounded like it should be - and the end of the barrel actually lines up correctly closer to the top. It's still an MP afterall, so I appreciated when alt mode realism is preserved. I hope they decide to paint it up silver, or at least have a plastic that has a dull nickel finish without those ugly swirls.

 

Or Chrome? I'd rather he had a chrome exterior, not a boring painted grey.

Maybe as a lucky draw. With all the repaint ideas that Takara has done in the past (like the MP-4 "Sleep" Mode Prime, etc), I could also see an all chrome special edition to portray that moment when Megatron first agrees to Unicron's terms and he turns all shiny looking before getting his shell peeled back and reformated into Galvatron.  

 

Wonder if we will get a Battle damaged Prime to go with him.

 

Color me intrigued. Will probably cost 100$ to 130$ USD like IronHide/Ratchet - Shockwave.

 

The torso is a complete mess. Only the front looks like a cohesive piece. The top and back are full of panels, tabs, & hinges. No level of takara delusion is going to convince me that looks good. Definitely holding out for reviews.

Given my love of oddball repaints, that would look amazing next to my YoTG Soundwave.

 

Just when you think the G1 Megatron options couldn't get any better! While I'm not loving the short torso paired with the long legs (I understand that it's toon accurate, though), the tech detail behind the face plate and the battle damage more than make up for it!

 

i'm with you on this. it looks like you can see his back kibble from the front, and looking at him from up top is a mess. the back of him is awful. i really want to love this and will probably still pick it up but i think the 3Ps won this one.

 

I hope the silencer doesn't cause the barrel to sag like it does in the pics... that part where the barrel connects to the main gun body does not look very robust.

 

I really like the look of this Megatron. Clearly, design & engineering-wise "Lazerwave" is related and I like that one too.

But yeah, this reinforces the notion that Takara are taking the MP into the toon accurate direction.

 

This looks very cartoon accurate, take that for what its worth. Because MP-10 is not, so they seem to clash... in not a good way.
To those that like em. Good on you, you will be happy I'm sure. But boy am I glad I went with Despo, he's got all the right styling for me, and he's chunky... but also looks to be Styled to go with MP-10 more.
The accessories are cool, i'd like the mace.

 

That's funny. I was thinking the complete opposite. I don't like this. My 3rd party Megatron isn't going anywhere.

i also got maketoys despotron knowing that there's probably going to be a tt release, and i gotta say i'm more excited about his transformation than his aesthetics. while he may be toon accurate (the designer was on point), i don't think it translates well in 3d - looking at his side-by-side with prime, his waistline is up to where prime's ribcage is - it's just too high, and his torso too short. it just doesn't work for me. comparing him to despotron looks like despotron is arnold schwarzenegger during his prime, and tt megs is arnold 10 years from now when he's old and stops working out.

sold apollyon the moment i saw maketoys' version and don't regret it one bit. i'm still going to buy tt megs, but i wont be getting rid of my despotron anytime soon.

 

Best sculpt. Worst finish. It's definitely cartoon accurate, so they're nailing the direction they want to go in. I just don't think the line's for me, anymore. But I HAVE to get Megs.

So can anyone make out the type of joint used for the shoulders? It would be a shame if an MP we've all been waiting this long for couldn't hold up it's weapon. I was just thinking about how MP-28 can't hold the Matrix for prolonged periods of time then looked back at v2 Meg hoping to see a ratcheted shoulder.
