Yeah He almost looks like a bobble head or an SD version with that big head.

But one thing that is important to remember - when Takara does an official announcement of a prototype, it looks super-refined. Whether or not you like the actual designs, Takara's "official" grey proto pics aren't usually loose and wobbly, they don't have bits "kind of in place but not". If this is a Takara product then it's a super early prototype and the official final version will be a lot more refined. 3P's regularly show us grey proto's that are "work in progress" efforts (I'm looking at you XTB Cyclonus). When Takara shows us official pis of their Meg's (if this is theirs) he'll be a lot more solidly put together and posed)

 

Looks good so far, and this will be my Megatron, I've been holding off from buying any P3, if this does turn out to truly be TT.

So as for right now, my hype level is dialed to a 1.

 

I've been let down by the last few MP's.
MP Ironhide ended my MP collecting.

However this looks great.

I wouldn't be lying if I said I was concerned tho.

 

There was a time when I would've been hugely impressed, but the bar is so high these days and we've seen so many variations on this design that I tend to notice the stuff they get 'wrong' before I can appreciate everything they've done right.

 

Looks fantastic! Loving the proportions and the very clean look to the legs.

 

This has nothing to do with Hasbro, though. And I highly doubt Hasbro would try releasing a non-G2 MP Megatron, submarine modes nonwithstanding

 

Hell, I've got XTB, but I'll buy this just cuz of all the "officialness"   faction symbol, MP box, probably a sword, probably the gun he shot Prime with, maybe some battle damage like that shard he got rammed with in the Movie... That, and I think that the slimmer but balanced proportions look pretty good. Mightron looks roid'd as f*ck, and looks like hes stumping around on black refrigerator legs. Plus the face looks flat, and to me, Megatron's slightly pitched slightly forward angled helmet thing is an important design attribute, and I think Mightron's helmet is just too flat and square. To each their own, though. I will say though, that considering I heard a rumor in Japan that Galvatron's planned for 2017, I'm surprised this has come first... I guess TT is just really freaking out about the 3rd Party "character wars" explosion lately.

 

I dunno official one looks like its got a pair of adult diapers on to me. Hope his arm canon can attach to the side of its arm. I'll prob end up getting him since its the official one but I'll hang on to the MakeToys one till then. My Apollyon is long dead and Prime needs his buddy asap.

 

Any predictions on this guy's release date? My guess is 3rd-4th quarter 2017, but it'd be great if it were sooner.

 

Wow, he's ugly. He looks nowhere near as good as despotron.

 

This comparison more than anything has convinced me it is probably official, and it shows how over-bulked Despotron is. I'll definitely be going with Takara.

 

I hope this megatron can be released by early 2017.

Yep! They've probably got a lot of completed prototypes, and third party releases general a lot of buzz for a figure just in time for TT to introduce theirs. And when they wait until the third party figures are being shipped to the suppliers, it's a potential hit to the third parties who manufacture the figures and the vendors who buy/stock them.

As I thought about this earlier today, it seems like TT was content to let the 3Ps play in the CHUG figure space because their costs were a lot higher overall than standard TT/Hasbro releases. However, it looks like TT is ready to challenge 3Ps for dominance in the Masterpiece arena since size, cost, etc. is much closer--and MP is really the holy grail for TF toys targeting higher end collectors.

 

I"m one of those people who likes the designs Hasui's teams put out better than the designs Kobayashi's teams put out. But I have to say, Megs looks damn good!
