Despotron is less G1 but very cool!
Still, I prefer the shiow accuracy.

Unfortunately, preorder price of Mp36 is very high!

Looks like Apollyon will join Quakewave on my desk at work when this guy arrives.

No, not for this little black duck. MP-36 looks like a bit of a mess around the shoulders & back. Also IMO, it doesn't really match MP-10.
    Bring back Hasui's masterpiece style.

The changing faces and the battle damage won me over.
I'm waiting for the inevitable MP prime Repaint or remold with damage to go with it.

...At that point they are getting their own shelf.

I can't wait to get him with MP-28 in a headlock with the gun and battle damage.

That's the worst way to do a megatron, some 3P failed because they did a megatron with exagerated proportions to "match" with Optimus (when they never shared the same, just because they are the leaders), and the shoulders and the back they really aren't a mess, the only pic from thats parts are from a magazine with bad res and shadows (and only few persons notice that the shoulders aren't hollow, they just have a little black part that confuses everyone and made they think that it's hollow).

The magazine with bad res and shadows, here the shoulders looked hollow.

But even in the same magazine, the back of one of the shoulders isn't hollow.

Each to their own. Aesthetically speaking, I'd still take any of the 3rd party bots over MP-36. Just look at that facial expression above. It looks absurd. TT usually nails that part.
As for the transformation TT usually nails that too so I have a feeling this guy will have the best transformation out of the bunch.

Well yes the giant smile veers slightly towards the absurd side but you can't tell me the one to the right doesn't look great.

Why can't we see their hands in that shot? I'd like to know what they are up to...

Takara nailed the facial expressions IMO. None of the 3P come close to MP36 aesthetically and I really like my Apollyon...except the face.

As for designer bashfest, I never had any issue with any Kobayashi or Hasui designs at all. Kobayashi needed no redemption IMO.

There's no bash fest here, unless you've bought it with you.

I personally love toon accuracy and simplicity. But I guarantee once/if this guy is released with a metallic finish, all the haters will dive in with reckless abandon.

This is literally THE best incarnation of G1 Megatron ever to grace a toy. Once we have a moment to confirm that the transformation is smart and intuitive this figure will rise even higher in most collectors eyes.

MP-10 has always been slightly awkward. It's a great feat and launch to the new line but I think the wheels outside and the long arms take it down a notch compared to this new Megatron.

No designer is the be all and I think the MP line continues to mature and move in a positive, exciting direction.

Eventually we'll need a new Prime.

Man, you guys are tough to please, I was sold after the first coloured picture(s) that surfaced after the leaked prototype! :lol

This guy looks phenomenal, I always thought I was a huge Galvatron fan and actually prefer Galvatron, looks wise, but after I saw this guy I never realised how much I liked Megatron....the gigantic and gaping hole he'll be filling in my collection, he looks absolutely amazing, the third party options don't even come close, I can't believe he's just over three months away, let the good times roll!

    :rock

Haha I wouldn't say hard to please, just those things put him over and beyond the top. ;)

Yeah really can't wait to get my hands on him. :D  Then we just need the perfect Galvatron option.

Did I say there was one? No, I did not. But let's be real and call it by what often happens when it comes up, I was commenting in general hence why no one got direct quoted.

The hot part is that if Megatron looks this good with a somewhat difficult transformation/alt mode, imagine what they will be able to do with Galvatron? :rock

The more I look at the magazine scans the more impressed I am with this release.

From the jeweled bits in the abdomen, the rounded sculpt on the hands, the face sculpts so full of life and on model and the killer battle damage.

I also love how Takara creates great contrast and graphic pop with the paint choices especially with the face and eye color choices.

A lot of the 3rd parties are using Metallics or Chrome or terrible light piping for optics/visors and it just doesn't work. Creates ugly reflections, dead eyes and in many cases a confusing read on the features of the face especially when they couple that with a metallic reflective face. I love the push toward brilliant flat/gloss colors, with only small translucent or metallic accents.

I can't wait to experience the transformation.
