Hot Rod's not magenta colored enough. Booooo!
Does anybody know when this (and the reissues) will appear on Amazon JP, based on previous releases?
I've preordered as I think he looks amazing, but:
I really hope all the panels don't make for a fiddly transformation and hold together solidly;
He looks to have really restricted forward hip movement (though I'm guessing the skirt pivots horizontally forward);
It looks like under the skirt he might be pretty gappy - hopefully this not too visible.
Pretty sure MP09 was 209. I believe the mark up is because of the $60 barrel plunges that need to be installed. I'll wait for the import sites to go live.
Hot DAMN I want one!
Was thinking of giving this guy a pass, but damn dat mace accessory has me won over on this guy. My wallet is torn.
HE'S PERFECT...just pricy.
Also, I preordered yesterday from TFSource. Do you think they will have the orange plug version or no? I'm wondering if I should cancel my preorder there and go with HLJ.
Or is there no way of avoiding the orange plug?
I'm not too fazed about the price. After getting Ultra Magnus, Skywarp, Thundercracker, Thrust and Ramjet, you kind of become numb to it.
While I love the Sunbow cartoon colors, I wish that the torso was lower and the legs were thicker.
I think most got used to the $70 price tag of the smaller MP figures. there has been a pretty steady flow of price arguments ever since shockwave
Looks really cartoony, especially the maniacal face. I am still not a fan of it - it does a better robot mode than the old one, but you can still see the giant empty space under his belly-flap from the sides, and his neck and shoulde assembly is a mess. Plus, he has a really tiny fusion cannon compared to the size of it on the toy or in the cartoon, not sure why when they replicated the size of the stock and silencer really faithfully.
I think much like with Optimus where I stuck to MP01, I will stick to my old one. I prefer the leaders to be much bigger than the others, anyway.
Oh yeah, that too. Again probably something that they had to cut corners with for the transformation to work, but now that you mention, it does look like a diaper.
Takara has become a slave to cartoon accuracy these days, even when it is detrimental to the toy or was just an animation error (see the purple threads on Bonecrusher, or Grapple's yellow helmet, or the horrible underdetailedness of Inferno's legs and Magnus and MP10's fake/no leg wheels).
Sure Megatron was light grey in the toon, but even during Henkei times when Takara tried to be very G1 accurate with the redecos, Megs was always a metallic silver, with a lot of chrome. In this case, the cartoon accuracy again hurts the toy.
MP-10 WAS $250 for the very first release at BBTS.
Not sure why there's even a debate, that's the price it was.
I used the wrong color scheme in comparison of Prime's highlights and Meg's colors. The MP-05 was not chrome but a dull silver color. There were never issues with chipping on it as far as I know. I would have preferred that color scheme to this.
Wow the official pics look amazing!!!
Got this sense of dread the chest panel will have to come of for transformation... naaaaaah they wouldn't do that, right?
But where does it go??...
See below from a few pages up-thread:
I wonder if that means later today, given the time difference?
HLJ will also put in an orange plug, they did it for the G1 reissue.
You talking partsforming, Liam?
We need your transformation schematic, please. I think with Ultra Magnus you had the time because your wife went away for a long weekend, if I recall correctly. I'm sure we'd all chip in and treat your wife to a nice weekend away if it means you can suss out how this awesome transformation actually works!
Love everything about him and he looks incredible. The only thing I hate is the price which is insane imo. I may not be able to afford this guy and that makes me sad.
same way they always do... with a blind eye.
But not the ONLY price it's been. What it was originally really means little in regards to people comparing value to what THEY PAID for a figure vs what is being asked for another figure.
When people are talking about their tolerance for cost compared to previous purchases... the purchase price is what carries the most weight.
It's the same as when people say "bumble bee isn't worth $70..." and people say "who cares, I paid $40!"
