I was wondering, what about an Asian release with the collectors coin? Is there any chance of that, or has it already happened and had bad plastic too? I know they fixed a lot of problems with MP-09 when they eventually did the collectors coin release in Asian markets, and I've seen various other characters with collectors coin releases, but I don't know if it's something that happens for every figure.

Me too. I have my original and NO cracks. BUT Theres that looming matter of when, not if it will crack. I'm tired of handling him with super delicate care.

Have they announced an improved re-release or are we all just hoping at this point?

I was browsing BBTS today and noticed they had a pre order up for Hound. At a staggering price of 199.99
Is this really just more of the original run or could it possibly be a reissue?

Just curious, were all the cracks on Hound on areas where threaded flathead pins or rivets were fired through?

I don’t think so. If I remember correctly there are issues with simple pinned joints in a lot of cases.

Nope. One of the most common fracture spots was the shoulder launcher joint assembly behind Hound’s head, which was held together by a screw.

There were also many cases of the “door” panels or other panel pieces fracturing in places where there was no joint of any kind.

Interesting. Hope that’s addressed on any future release of this mold

All evidence suggests it was an issue with the materials, and likely due to a mistake made during the manufacturing process (such as not properly drying the plastic pellets). If that’s true, then a reissue should solve the problem.

Is the reissue a definite? Pretty sure I heard about it in one of the YouTube reviews.

There is absolutely no indication of a reissue happening.

I need advice. I'm thinking about getting him. I've got a FT Hound, which I'll keep either way (present from my wife), but I really wanted to check this guy out. Also, Hound was always a favorite of mine. I have the chance to get one fairly cheaply, but I don't want to spend money on something that will crumble to pieces.

So the situation is as follows:I don't particularly often transform my figures, though this happens sometimes. I like to pose them, and this is what I do most with them. I like how he looks, I like the articulation: I've seen a lot of people mentioning that it's one of the best MP - apart from that cracking issue.

My question is this: is it throwing money away, or is he fixable/usable with the most common cracks? Is he usable after a year?

The KO is to wonky for my taste.

Not sure what you mean by the KO being "wonky", mine is just as good (better in some cases) than an official release. The official is a near guaranteed crumbling mess all around, while the KO might come with a gun assembled slightly wrong (mine didn't). There's no contest as to which deserves the money. I've transformed my KO back and forth 5 or 6 times now with absolutely no issues.

Did Takara ever even admit they fucked up or do anything to fix it? Not that I've ever heard.

Just rumors that they stopped using the factory that produced it, nothing concrete/confirmed

I think I've probably transformed my MP-47 around that many times and the only problem I had was a small crack where the screw is at the back of the shoulder cannon armature.

I haven't messed with him much since release, but I did put him though the rounds pretty well back then and transformed him to robot and back a while back.

Unlike Encore FireConvoy which even Amiami pulled out of their catalog none.

The reviews I watched showed him to be looser in terms of tolerances, to the extent of not being able to hold a pose.

I think your odds of getting a decent copy of the KO are better than the odds of getting a decent copy of the official. My official had a misassembled shoulder right out of the box and has since developed several cracks. The cracks didn’t appear until well after the return period ended. It’s a roll of the dice on this one. If it weren’t for the issues, he’d be one of my favorite MPs.

I wish I hadn’t customized my MP-47 because it’s otherwise like new. For whatever reason, it has no cracks or QC issues. The plastic doesn’t feel good, but it’s held up fine.
