Well, G1 cheesy "Rebirth" episodes are definitely out. As for the Takara "Headmasters" toon...hmm, maybe.

Right now, I'm really torn between this:

The forearms and hands have finally shipped!! Hopefully I'll get them by the middle of next week.

In the meantime, I'm repainting Cerebros. I'm giving him a darker shade of gray (gunship gray, to be precise):

I'm airbrushing some of the large pieces (arms, guns). Stuff that's smaller like the head, or areas that are a bit hard to get to, I'm drybrushing those. I'm using a light clearcoat on everything, just to be safe.

I think you'll like what I have planned out. Just think of a Fortress Maximus - Henkei version. :popcorn

    Okay, how about this?

I couldn't have the antennae extend out too far, otherwise it would get in the way of the bot mode. I painted the gray parts of the head a darker gray, then painted the face with a more metallic look.

VERY nicework, but I do think you are pretty wacko for attempting this, but that just makes it more awesome.

Hopefully by the weekend after Labor Day (September 12th/13th). The hands/forearms are on the way, hopefully I'll get them by Wednesday. In the meantime, I'm going to take everything that won't be physically modified (basically the torso and lower legs, below the knees) and repaint it.

Update on the paint job, I've started to disassemble the figure and paint what I can. I'm going for a lighter blue and lighter gray, as well as "hot rod" red on the weapons. Also painting in some of the finer details on the "city mode":

Hmm...you could always make a cartoon accurate set that you can attach via magnets in robot mode.

Paint looks solid so far. What are you using?

For the larger parts I disassembled, I'm using transparent hot rod red, gloss bright blue and gloss gray (all Testors). For Cerebros I used gunship gray. I used liquid leaf silver argent on Fort Max' face, but when I sprayed the clear coat afterwards it changed it to that tarnished, rusted look. I may go over it again and forego the clear coat.
