Well, I'm definitely wrong. Being awake again and seeing the new hi-res pics, that's definitely a single piece for the chest, as you astutely point out.

Looking at the pics again, it's still not a second set of ears visible behind that, though. That's definitely the edges of a panel.

The side-angle pics don't show much room in that torso, though, so that beast mode head must be positioned perfectly, especially so as not to break those tiny whiskers (unless there's parts-forming for the beast mode head and you've got 3 cheetah heads set aside while the fig is in bot-mode).

 

What 20th anniversary line?

Wait, are you sure that's a fake chest? I didn't notice before, but I guess it kinda does look like it, although I'm not entirely certain.

Edit: Yeah, it's fake. DAMN! I am really, really disappointed by that.

 

Optimus Prime has a 'fake' grill-abs piece, Ultra Magnus has 'fake' cab windows, MP-9 Rodimus Prime has a 'fake' chest (upper half), Ramjet has a 'fake' conehead, Bumblebee has a 'fake' upper hood crotch, Red Alert has 'fake' shoulder wheels.

So for the MP line it's nothing new.

I'd rather see a 'real' part transform away and be replaced by a more screen accurate part (ala Optimus Prime's grill), than have the first piece serve two purposes. Look at the other two Cheetor toys we've seen as an example: you can't get a rigid plastic cat face to stretch and lay smooth over the chest and abdomen the way Cheetor's animation model did.

My only disappointment would be if you partsform it by removing the other cat head and setting it aside...

 

It's actually generations. But some refer to it as 20th. Guess it just stuck with me.

  But Generations didn't celebrate the 20th anniversary of Beast Wars. Are you referring to the ones released during the Thrilling 30? Because if so, they are neither MP quality, nor part of BW's anniversary.

They're referring to these "LGEX" (see below VVV ) premium repaints of the Generations figures, they're somewhat similar to the Telemocha line, in that they feature even more slavish paint jobs than the already more accurate first Takara Legends releases (just look at Waspinator's robot mode head!):

Oh, well those aren't Generations releases, they're Legends, and as I said before, they aren't really MP quality.

 

That is NOT all.   We need Dinobot and Blackarachnia at the very least!

I know they arn't "MP quality", but I am fine with the Generations Rhinox, Rattrap and Waspinator as stand-ins for now, and would rather see the rest of the season one cast first.
