Awesome. Thanks! Mine definitely does not extend that much. Anyone have tips for prying that peg out? Even with fingernails, pulling started to damage the plastic

Well...I've used my teeth...and pulled very hard. No joking...

Join a gym, start a deadlift programme and soon enough you’ll possess the grip strength to pry that sucker out ;)

I remember the first time I pulled that peg out; I definitely had to use some cautious force as I didn’t know how far it would go but it didn’t take a Herculean effort. Maybe try giving it a good wiggle while pulling?

Anyways...have your Cheetor's golden paint started to become a lot more opaque than originally? In my copy just the hands stayed the same, and the difference is notable.

No difference on my gold paint, but the hinge holding his robot mode crotch plate broke when I went to put him in his box after being on display for a couple months (did not bend it the wrong way). I haven't seen it happening to any other people but there may have been some paint stuck in there exerting pressure on it over time... the paint on these guys is amazing but there's just so much.

Did you mean did not bend the RIGHT way?

No, I'm saying that I did not bend it in the incorrect direction. Cheetor's crotch plate only bends on the hinge one way, and if you push it too much in the other direction it could break the hinge. I did not bend it the wrong way, which is why I'm so confused as to how the thing broke.

Oh, keep in mind that I've used mine basically every day since I openend him (more than a year ago), so this is probably why mine has this problem while yours do not. But this is worrying me a bit, especially considering that Dinobot and Megatron have a lot of metallized paint on them, and I'll surely play with them A LOT as well.

Can’t believe no one has mentioned the fact that he has golden nipples in beast mode in addition to his golden anus

Because most of us have tact...

    Also, cat nipples aren't... there.

Uh, yes they are - the bot horns stick out through the cat chest. That can't be coincidental - the designers knew what they were doing

I was saying that cat nipples aren't on their chests, so what Cheetor has going on...isn't that.

And yeah, of course the designers knew what they were doing. They were making his massive head crest fit into a constrained space without having to fold it or blunt it or do something otherwise unsightly.

Did you let the pin air cool to room temp before touching it with the hot iron again?

Does the iron partially melt / damage the pin or surrounding plastic?

I did not let the metal pin cool down before I hit it with heat again. I just put this hot metal against the pin, test movement, see if it got any looser, then hit it again. Each time was just a few seconds. Just a little bit at a time, until it moved more freely.

It doesn't damage or change the metal pin, but it temporarily makes the pin larger with heat, and makes the surrounding plastic softer, so that it expands with the pin. When it all cools there is no damage, just a small change to the size of the hole.

Just don't be impatient as you are working. It may feel like nothing is happening, and you'll want to apply heat to he pin longer to get a result. But just work slow, little by little, and you'll get it. Good luck!

It may be worth waiting a little for this guy. I have no doubt he is going to get a reissue in the next year or so and then you could get him at cost rather than the absurd priced he is going for

I had one and sold him not realizing Takara was moving so quickly on Beast Wars. Hopefully he does get a reissue soon.

I got one of those MP-34 coins in today. I like how heavy it is.
