    I'm guessing the market for Thunderwing isn't huge to begin with. And when Garatron knocked it out of the park it sealed this guy's fate

    Not really, but I think it probably got mothballed because of that.

    Both are based off the same IDW design after all.

    They have to show what they have planned if another company reveals there’s or they won’t generate enough hype and sales for it. This way guarantees some of us would hold off for their one.
