I gotta imagine that by the time it hits release it won't be. That bird neck is gonna be one of the top QC priorities given how much that figure needs it to pose well.

Oh I doubt it, too. I was really reaching there and was thinking of anything that would be a negative.

MMC isn't a company I associate with for floppy joints.

Srry, should’ve clarified, I meant potential QC issues ... that better for you sweetheart?

I think you're confusing potential QC with potential design/engineering issues.

literally everything on any toy could be a potential QC issue since the issue would happen when the manufacturing takes place.

potential design/engineering issues would be something that would show up in the photo/test shot phase.

Just a quick heads up, I was informed that the unpainted head that was in my review was actually an uncoated chrome version. The second head will be "show accurate." Maybe @hardreturn can offer more info on that?

I collect MP but I'm good with this size. Actually being honest, I'm really happy seeing he's that size compared to UW Superion because that's a perfect scale to fill a shelf display but not overwhelm it where I need a "Special" place to put this guy.

YMMV but I wish more of these big ones were scaled like this. Big enough to appreciate and have presence but small enough to display reasonably. I like my Omega but I didn't need one the size of a small child. My wife called him a robot "My Buddy" last night o_O

I really dnt understand why the whole engineering vs QC thing gets ppl all worked up ... we all know what I’m getting at, QC issues arise at the mass manufacturing stage, true, but questionable design choices (MP Dinobot’s shoulders for example) give rise to QC issues down the line (the nub in the shoulder ratchet needing modification to function properly for many) ... the ppl smart enough to get anal abt the distinction are the same ppl smart enough to understand it’s just short-hand for what I’m getting at, yet they become like grammar Nazis on a Yahoo news comment section ... this isn’t a college term paper we’re working on here lol

Nope. I had no idea why you were asking about QC on a test shot and why it would matter until you kinda clarified.

    Words have meanings ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    This looks good.

    If I may...

I think one engineering issue will be the cat part has to be strong enough to support itself plus the bird part. This means beefy ratchets, and probably a decent internal structure to resist twisting when the combined version is posed. I shudder to think that the function will dominate over the design (like Long Haul on UT/CW Devy) but it looks good so far. The bird part is going to need to move a posable neck and tail and wings that don't "flop", or else, both the bird and the combined version fail on design. So far, the static prototype pictures are pretty. I'd like to see some video where someone is posing or moving the model, because if the neck/tail/wings "wobble" in the video shot, you can expect they are going to wobble in real life.

Just got this guy in. (Texas, if your wondering) he is big, beefy, sturdy. He’s like a a moveable toy gargoyle on my desk. This thing is awesome. Can’t wait for the other half.

Already covered. For whatever reason we don't have a proper video review yet, but there was a sample video maybe a page or so back showing someone putting a good amount of pressure on the Lynx's back, without any of the legs buckling or moving. So it should be able to handle the weight of the bird half.

Not really true. It's not possible to tolerance the resin parts as tightly as you can with plastic, due to how fragile the material is. It's possible to make some really beefy ball joints that wouldn't sag under the weight of that neck, but the prototypes won't necessarily show that.

Did you guys not see the video Paik4Life did yesterday? Ratchets galore.

It's an early test shot, and the neck tolerances are definitely not there yet. Obviously we won't know that they are until we see a near-production version.

You have allayed my fears. Thank you.

I am not too worried about the final product now. If MMC was smart enough to give the Lynx proper ratchets, there is no doubt they will do what is needed for Sky's neck, wings, and tail. MMC has come along way from their Feral Rex's weak ratchets. Anyone who has Carnifex knows what I mean. I just know friction joints wont cut it for long term even if tight in the beginning.

Some photos to share on size comparison with IF's Annihilator. Is quite a heavy piece with those die-cast feet. Those waist/back articulation gives the figure more 'life' as well.
