Awesome review axisvega, and you even showed the alt setting for bird mode that we just talked about today, and mentioned the two complaints for colors, ie the talon should have been dark, and the chest should have had black or other colors in the vent, like the detailing they did for the back of the wings.
Very good review man. Question, how well can the arm joints support the big sword? Also, any trouble posing the combined mode so far?
The elbow joint is relatively quite limited, can't do a 90 degrees bend. 90% of the time it'll hold the sword just fine but some positions/angles aren't as strong and the arm will droop. Shoulder can go quite high, almost reaching a full T pose but leos shoulder joints aren't strong enough to keep the arm up at that angle and they'll go back down one notch. The legs / torso I've covered extensively and Rex has a fine range of motion there. The wings also very posable and stay where ever you put them. Generally speaking Rex poses and holds his weight incredibly well and while not every single joint position can hold perfectly he does much better than you'd expect a figure of his size and weight to do regardless, certainly better than tfc's stuff for example. I think I am a little disappointed with his arm posability as I had very very high expectations due to how nice the legs could pose but that's probably my fault for expecting way more than is typically possible with combiners. Ironically M3 and Giant had much more limited legs than Rex but I think arm posability just ends up being more important and in that sense he's inferior to those two.
It's the limitations of MMC's solution to the elbow joint, I suppose. And it's good to know that the legs can carry the weight properly (minus one limb, at least). Thanks man! Can't wait to get my Talon, finally.
Honestly its a tradeoff I'm ok with. Yes the 'thigh' style elbows will give you more range but esthetically they just don't do it for me at all. Talon at least looks like an arm in arm mode. Can't wait to get mine, hurry up Kapow I'm very curious how the sort of inbetween solution of Quantron will work in hand. Its thighs but with an extra piston to sort of hide it a bit (in pictures anyway). I wonder how well it will camouflage and how much it will hinder posability.
He's really nice. The wings are excellent, and it's also a refreshing change to have a combiner figure that just has a single gun. I get that it's probably easier to balance the weapons (especially in alt mode) when there's a pair of them, but in the fiction most Transformers just use one weapon at a time. The wings are an excellent piece. They manage not to look oversized on Talon, but not too big on Feral Rex. Impressive. One annoying thing with the arm mode... the talons get in the way of turning the fist around. Combined with the limited mobility of the elbow, it gets a bit annoying. It can be worked around by leaving the talons pointed up, but that's less sleek. One question... I remember a video review saying that you could store Leo Dux's tail pieces on the wings of Talon. I can't figure out how to do that, or find the video that showed it. Did I imagine that, or is there a way?

Video review of Mastermind Creations, Talon. Part of the Feral Rex combiner team. He is a third party facsimile of G1 Divebomb from Predaking. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JDclgTdtAyM&list=UUROf_lOxJO7P6ta0oxNwf9Q My first taste of Mastermind Creations was Hexatron, Which is a very impressive well made figure, but can be a little much to handle. Now comes the feral rex team, bam! all the awesome quality and look in a smaller easier to handle package. First out of the gates (for this review series anyway) is Talon! Talon is a fantastic transformable action figure, utilizing great build quality and design to come together in a well done package. At a rough Voyager size, Talon has a great stance and with great articulation to back it up he is a very versatile and dynamic. The only thing to watch is the balance due to the large winged back pack. Though with a little time and positioning this is easily solved. The colour pallet is quite on topic and stands out of the shelf as with the rest of the feral-cons. A repro-labels set is available for the feral rex set that gives the wings a nice chrome touch, I may cover this in a later video. Speaking of the wings, they are pretty awesome. Multiple articulation points and an impressive wing span, the gold paint is well applied and looks great. The wing pack can also be used with the teams leader 'Leo-Dux' or the other arm 'Tigris', I will show this off in later reviews. Talons Beast mode is fine, though it is shadowed by the robot mode. The beast mode could do with better leg articulation and maybe a stand, but that is really nitpicking. I will cove the 'Arm' mode in a later review. I highly recommend picking up Talon if you want a fun standalone figure and of course in the set. For a more in depth look at Talon Please watch the video review linked above.
