This is Don Fig's Whirl, it will be a second design based on Don's past work in Reformatted line.

Here's an idea: how about we get Sixshot and Obsidian toys that are both good and look like the characters first? before we start making ones that dont look like the characters with tons of unnecessary details?

MMC's looks like Sixshot? I mean, you can take off the katanas if you aren't a fan. And if you don't want that, there's the G1 toy? That also looks like him. Like, a lot. And its certainly better than the other sixchanger, Quickswitch

They're both better than another no-imagination bloody MP garbage that every other company is shoveling out

If it takes a Stormbringer Whirl remold looking fellow to give me a good Obsidian, I'm okay with that, because at the moment? My Obsidian is the Botcon one. You know, the Highbrow remold?

Nah man, to me he looks too different. The head looks nothing like sixshot, the wings are too stubby, and the silhouette is completely different from Sixshot's

I'm sure it's a good toy, but that design isnt what Sixshot should be

I have my fingers crossed for a MakeToys take on MTMTE Whirl in their Manga Mecha line. Or perhaps the company that teased a comic style Rodimus a while ago.

That's a great idea that some other company can tackle. If you don't like the Reformatted aesthetic, don't dip into it. But to deny MMC's designer and designs because you want an "accurate" Obsidian is silly.

This is probably a co-mold with IDW Whirl, so they figure the best way to sell Obsidian, a less popular character, is to sell it first, then once it's out, they announce the Whirl "remold". Fewer people will buy Obsidian if they already own the Whirl version. It's just like how Hasbro currently sells the less popular version of the mold first, like Leader Ultra Magnus, then comes in a year later and announces "Powermaster Optimus Prime!" or the sell Leader Thundercracker first, then recolor it into Starscream, because Starscream is more popular. They do it all the time.

MMC's original Sixshot had stubby, weirdly shaped wings on his chest. They were all black also if I recall.

In the new version the chest wings were redone to better match the original G1 toy design.

I'm like my BotCon Obsidian, but I'm much more interested in if we will get a metallic purple recolor of this as not-Rotorbolt. I always loved him in the comics... He was an arrogant vehicle mode Predacon warrior who was a stealth helicopter, but his stealth systems only worked in vehicle mode, they screwed up in robot flight mode, so as a robot he made such a loud thumping sound no one could hear him talk! His toy never got released and only one hand painted prototype existed! Perfect for a convention exclusive recolor of not-Obsidian.

Plus technically he was a member of an incarnation of the Wreckers. So that's a sales point. No Wreckers collection is complete without Rotorbolt!

I don't think this is a whirl possibility as all. MTMTE whirl is far more esoteric for this design to be him.

Pretty sure it wouldn't be MTME Whirl. Stormbringer Whirl.

Still IDW, just not the one most probably would be thinking of. The same way Dicamus (Titanika premold) is based on the Guido Guidi Roadbuster, not the LSotW one. MMC can definitely march to the beat of its own drummer.

No mmc design outside of their djd bots (which ironically have sold badly so far I believe) is ever slavish to a single source of media and both this figure and a potential whirl version are no different.

But I dunno what will change between the very early things I've seen and the final products so I can't confirm anything in particular yet.

It's Stormbringer Whirl, not MTMTE Whirl.
