What ever happened to these guys? Are they still coming?
Drift and Wing? Most likely. Especially if MMC likes money.
As for that Thunderwing, probably not. A much superior one is close to release.
I like this MMC Thunderwing way more, and am waiting for it's release.
MMC hasn't said anything. One thing to note is that griffith76 of MMC said that any design that MMC hires a freelancer/contractor for automatically has a greenlight, whereas there's a chance that any design done in-house may get cancelled.
Alpha and Beta are designs by Byrin, who I think is an in-house designer at MMC, so I suppose if MMC feels there's not enough response to those figures, they may table them. I'd find that a pity, though, because they're my most anticipated MMC figures. Anyway, MMC showed off a 3D-printed proto of Beta early this year, but no news since.
I'm not sure who designed Stratosfear, but if it was Cassy Sark or some other freelancer, it will get produced, even if it's on a extended timeline. And actually, looking at the design again, whereas I didn't think it was a Cassy Sark design before, there are a couple cues in there that suggests that maybe it is. Nevertheless, there hasn't been any news on this since last year.
Yeah pretty positive their Thundedwing is a Sark design.
I'm sure Wing and Drift will come! I believe
Yeah I liked their Thunderwing, because it was a full pretender.
Wouldn't be a bad idea to actually have a thread that lists all MIA products, now.
Would love to see Alpha and Beta make it to release. Those would be my most desired MMC upcoming releases by far. The rest of their IDW stuff is somewhat hit or miss, but those two look fantastic.
Alpha and Beta are outstanding in both modes. Stratosfear looks better than the other one by far.
All Reformatted figures will be bought regardless.
For just MMC? Depends on what you want to define "MIA" as, but roughly:
Alpha (Wing) - renders shown July 2015
Beta (Drift) - picture of proto December 2015
Ebrius (Guzzle) - renders April Fool's Day 2016
Stratosfear (Thunderwing) - renders shown October 2015
Malum Malitia (Insecticons) - nothing since September 2015. Though OX recently said on FB that they're still planning on them for this year (I don't know how.)
Maximas Pro (Defensor) - MMC/OX recently said they're undergoing redesigns.
For all companies? That'd be a lot to keep track of...
It hasn't been that long since Drift and Wing were announced, has it? Wasn't it around the beginning of Summer-ish?
Yeah, last summer. July 2015.
THAT long ago???
Then again, it wouldn't be the worst example in 3P, let alone MMC.
Oh yeah where is all this insider information coming from? I'm sure it's still coming, they just had other figures in the lineup ahead of Thunderwing.
And as for superior? No way. I've seen it in person twice and handled it once, and I will not be giving that company any money. It looks the part, but I'm definitely waiting on MMC
Not sold on Not-Drift, there's way too much back kibble going on to tuck the wheels away. I understand trying to get close to the IDW design is the point, as is the clear Autobot Clones motiff with making one core toy turn into a car or jet, but I do think kibble integration could be done better. In contrast, I do really like Wing.
Stratosfear is a ridiculously awesome and clever name, but the design just isn't translating well. You can see that maybe almost 50% of the total plastic mass of the figure's 'titan' component is actually wing kibble hanging off the back of a relatively thin robot in comparison to all that bulk kibble. Plus, for it to be appropriately sized for Stormbringer, he'd easily be more expensive than the nearly $200 Carnifex who, while worth every penny and then some, took several years to be realized and shipping was kind of a bitch due to how massive the box was. Stratosfear would need to be Supreme class at least and that gets into design territory where size is more detrimental than anything. The idea those wings would snap if the figure toppled over, for instance, from its own weight applied suddenly to thin plastic panels.
I don't mind them taking a while to put some love into Stratosfear. I've been wanting Thunderwing since I first got into the IDW comics back when the third Furman series was coming out( devastation I wanna say?), and would love for MMC to tackle a bunch of designs from the Stormbringer comic. However, as many have said, this guy is gonna require some amazing design ingenuity.
I think Carnifex proves that Stratosfear is gonna be worth the wait though as I don't think there is Transformer that's this size and this amazing to pose. On top of that being able to hold those poses is just as important which is something that MMC has done exceptionally well.
Can you eleborate on that? I'm interested in it myself but if there's any issues i'd like to know before making a final decision.
The other thunderwing is nice, aesthetic wise but I will look for MMC one
Why? My instict say it will be bigger than Carnifex and more detailed. MMC always deliver a homerun with their big bots. Never failed. And their small bots? Far above average other third party out there. MMC will win this one.
Personally, I hope they're working on refining the designs for all three, Drift especially. His shoulders and head need sorting out, as does the wheel kibble behind his shoulders, it looks really messy. On top of that, he needs his proper swords instead of those weird, pathetic looking things.
If possible, I'd like him to look like IF's Drift, except with a proper alt-mode.
