Thanks LazyAza! True, Drifts mold changes rather dramatically especially around the shoulders and upper legs as well as - well - truly most everywhere. Even his head is considerably different over time in regards to the proportions of his characteristics e.g. (let me call them) fins (for simplicity).

So yeah, all in all the MMC Drift is a Drift that most people will love and I agree in hindsight - just "red-ening" up the mold may just turn out shit.
For me, he doesn't work though but I hope that others will find him a nice fit for their shelves - as I said the mold is superbe!

Funny enough MMC has another Drift design that'll probably get made eventually for our Infinity line, we're kind of sitting on a mountain of such things at the moment. But it too is so specifically designed to be Drift designed from the perspective of what if he existed during G1 that his deco will be specific to that idea as well.

The character in general is so popular simply because of his appearance/concept that I wouldn't be surprised if we do a third iteration of him some day and I would hope its one of the mtmte ones.

Thanks again! Being in danger to come around as totally ignorant here, but what's "MMC's infinity line".
Is that something upcoming or internal lingo for the Ocular Max...? Never heard of it and googling it just now didn't help much :)

Well...guess I will just sit it out until there is a mold that "speaks" to me, so to speak.

Mastermind Creations new line: "Infinite Finity"

Totally forgot about the line. I’m still definitely trying to pick up RE:Edit Stray when I can, but I’ve got my eyes peeled for that Infinite Drift too.

MMC wanted to branch out from purely standard g1 designs for their masterpiece figures. So they have a new toy line that will be starting eventually, probably next year, showcasing a wide array of different ideas including IDW characters getting the masterpiece treatment and so on.

GC was working on a Drift of their own that has a fair bit more red though it remains to be seen if they continue to make toys as currently the only new thing they have is a black version of their Optimus.

Thanks for the background to this infinity line.
    Interesting!
Yes, I saw the GC early on but I have their Prowl (Rebel) and I'm not sure if I would get another one from them.
Nicely executed and all but it just uses some engineering that is weird to me. Lovely shelf presence and so on - but something is missing there and it would probably prevent me from getting their Drift, if ever it comes :)

After 7 long months of waiting, this guy finally came! He's a handsome fella.

If I can point out where improvements can be made, it's definitely on the shoulder articulation. They should've made a flap, either at the front or sides, or go the Generations way wherein the front was part of the shoulders.

I recently obtained Stray Re-Edited and now the trio is complete! The mileage MMC was able to get out of this one mold is commendable. Per usual, I added panel lining to my copy.

I like all three equally for different reasons.

    - Aero Alpha (Wing) has the more unique and interesting alt mode.
    - Ater Beta's (Deadlock) color scheme is more visually appealing and I like how he has both swords and a rifle.
    - Stray (Drift) fits in with my IDW Lost Light collection.

But if I absolutely had to choose between the three, I would probably go with Ater Beta. The mold looks sleeker in the darker colors and I tend to prefer Decepticons.

I definitely want to see a Deadlock reissue at some point. I missed out on him the first time around.

Is the Reformatted scale smaller than their upcoming Infinite Finity scale? I don't know if I should pick up the current Drift out now, or just wait for their Infinite Drift to eventually come out if they'll be in the same scale.

Yes reformatted is chug scale (classics, Henkel, universe, generation). And ocular max infinite finity line is MP scale like all ocular max lines. So ox-if-Drift will be the bigger Mp scale.

Nah I'll wait until the price goes up to 200.
