I was thinking about how few t characters there are in the show and how boring it is to see the characters over and over [except DW, WJ and KO]. I was thinking how cool it would be if they dumped the original cast from g1 into the show, like Sunstreaker, Hound and Ironhide and of course everyone else, they already have a design for prowl. Think of the awesome battles if they did.

    Post your opinions.

I hate to burst your bubble, but I don't think the animation studios could afford to add so many new models at once. The high costs of CGI, and animating the robots as well, limits the amount of robots the show can afford to have :(

Might be cool, but CGI limitations prevent anything like that from happening. Especially when each bot needs 3 character models/rigs.

Not saying those characters will never show up, but not in any large numbers. 1 or 2...3 at the maximum.

I'm aware but it would be intesting if they did pull through, even if they just added 3 more guys it would a success.

True, but since Season 3 will be seeing the inclusion of more bestial concepts, such as
    Preadking
, I think the budget is being reserved for them.

NYCC panel said something about "staying tuned for Jazz and Perceptor". Could mean anything, but they said it.

That was just a fan who was asking for Jazz and Perceptor to show up.

At this point, one of the main things I'd like from Beast Hunters is three new Autobots, no more and no less. I'm not picky as to who, but preferably Ultra Magnus among them because of that awesome Voyager toy. But I don't think it would be a good idea to "dump" the entire G1 Autobot cast into Beast Hunters, keeping in mind there were twenty-eight Autobots in the first three episodes of G1, and dozens more afterwards, so as much as I don't like the small Autobot cast in Prime I don't think the OP's idea would be very wise.

There's one other limitation aside from CGI model costs, guys--the voice actor guild's "a maximum of 14 voice actors per episode" rule. So if a bunch more Autobots suddenly did appear, the number of speaking characters per episode would go down, and some characters would have to lose focus--especially if you want a different voice actor for every single character. Steve Melching actually commented on this in that recent interview as well--if your show has a huge cast of characters, there's always going to be the question of "well, where was this character or these character during this episode?!" Heck, that's already happening with people demanding to know why Wheeljack doesn't make an appearance every episode. If you add more characters to the main cast, others will have to go.

This show needs new blood badly. Smokescreen has been a welcome addition. And the cons need new members badly.

Really? If that was true then bring them on! :D  Perceptor does need a time to shine again after years of being put to the sidelines. :)

Anyway even if the budget wasn't the issue you'd also have the risk of having too many characters running around offering little to no character development to any of them. It has to be done smart.

I'd cast Phil LaMarr as both Jazz and Perceptor. Jazz is the TFA voice and Perceptor is in the Jarvis voice he uses in Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

Seriously bring Phil LaMarr back in to the show.

Yeah he was great in Animated. :)  However if he's not able to then Troy Baker from FOC would be an equally awesome choice as he does a fantastic impression of Scatman Crothers. :)

As for Perceptor I'm thinking David Hyde Pierce because of how the voice fits a character like Perceptor.

I listened to some voice clips of Troy Baker and honestly I don't think his impression works that good. I love Troy hell it didn't take long for him to be a favourite but man his Jazz voice isn't that great.

Personally I'd rather ditch the let's try to impersonate Scatman angle and aim for a new cool voice.

Phil or Troy would be great as Jazz, but I'm itching for Phil to come back more than Troy. I don't really think impersonating Scatman was necessary, even if the High Moon games are fanwank, even though Troy's performance was awesome in itself. Why should they have to impersonate Scatman anyway, as awesome as he was back in the day?

We do need new characters or Autobot death. Only Decepticons have died since Cliffjumper died. Bulkhead's death would've been likely as profound as Cliffjumper, but no, they decided to keep him alive. Dreadwing, Smokescreen and Hardshell were great additions, but two of the three were killed pretty hastily, especially Dreadwing's ridiculous death.

A possible solution for that is, depending of course on the casting director, is getting existing VAs on the show to voice the new characters. Each episode usually averages around 7-12 VAs per episode, so some episodes are just approaching that "limit of 14"-thing, while other episodes could spare some VAs. And that is, of course, entirely dependant on the plot of each episode. And with the likes of KMR, Nolan North, Frank Welker, etc. (whom can all do a variety of voices that are vastly different), there's no reason to think they couldn't add an additional character for each of those three VAs. More characters, but doesn't increase the number of VAs per episode.

But, even that opens up a can of worms, because there's a similar rule regarding the VAs pay with how many characters they voice. Don't quote me on this, as I could be wrong, but it's something like "one voice actor can voice 1-3 characters for the same amount of pay, but anything after 3 characters is when they have to be paid extra". So if you have an episode where Welker voices Megatron, Trooper 1, Trooper 5 and the new character Mirage, suddenly you've got to pay him more. So it all boils back to budget again.
