I actually yelled out "YES, GARRUS/TALI IS CANNON" :D  My Shep was a very happy Fem!Shep when she busted them :)

Probably because, along with Liara, Garrus and Tali have been the crew I've been tightest with. They stood with my through everything, more so than Liara even. So seeing them both happy, really stirred the inner romantic in me :p

Docking it 2 points for an ending that really leaves you hollow after some much wonderful is actually pretty fucking generous. The review is probably fairer than most on that score, because as you say the game is genuinely brilliant until those last 15 minutes. They should have been the game's finest hour but they weren't. 8/10 despite that is an accurate reflection of the game.

Lower then I would give it, which would be a 10. The final 5 hours is better then most games, and plenty of the larger scenes are better then anything elese shown in video games. The combat and level design is far above that of 1 and 2 and they do settle tons of story archs. The dialogue throughout the game is so diverse and changes so much depending on your actions that that in itself is a feat no other game has really come close to. This is what I mean about whining and being hyperbalic about the ending- you are trashing the whole game and series when there's so many amazing things about it. If I was a developer at Bioware, my eyes would have rolled out of their sockets by reading just one forum. "Well, so much for crafting a work of art. Let's make a racing game!"

    You're gonna call an 8.5, a paid-off review? Man, that's banana town.

Well, I don't have to worry much about if I rewrite. My new character playthrough(from scratch with comic) is going rather well. I just hit level 30, and am at the point of getting the Reaper IFF. I did every mission possible(minus the Arrival DLC, I may grab that first), my paragon is max, and I did manage to clear Tali of the charges. I don't know how it is that I missed some stuff from my other character playthough.

As I said, this new character is rather interesting, because I continued the relationship from 1 with Liara(romanced her after Shadowbroker), I question if I should pursuit another one for giggles, it does give me the option to, and I recall from my ME3 playthough that it allowed me to go with Liara, despite romancing Miranda in 2, and telling her I wanna continue the relationship, again, don't know how I managed that. But if you really think about it, Liara does have the better romance scenes. "You were dead" "I got better!" *ass slap* *abyss eyes* gotta inform Joker.

So, with this playthough, I will have most of the same setup for my 3 playthrough, I think. I barely did any Renegade thus far, only a couple for giggles after Para maxed. I just question if I should wait to play 3 again until AFTER the supposed DLC ending change.

Well, my Insanity ME3 Shepard won't be my cannon Shepard, I'll have to stick with my normal play through. I made Miranda cry and then she died, Thats the only thing different from normal to insanity, I broke it off with her on Insanity.

edit: MARAUDER SHIELDS! I died an embarrassingly high number of times to Marauder Shields. Surpisingly I didn't die on the very last section with all of the Banshees (or any of that part, Brutes are pretty easy with incendiary ammo, even on Insane). I just kept mobile and my squad usually had thier focus. EDI's decoy worked well too.

Finally finished the game yesterday (curse real life for getting in the way!) and I really enjoyed it.
Except for the section where you have to survive till you can fire the missiles at the Reaper. God-dam I hated that. And I was surprised to see some of the previous characters buy the farm. Poor Thane. I liked him.

As for the ending... I enjoyed it. I had managed to avoid spoilers so only had my guesses for what would happen at the end.

I do agree with most of what McBradders posted about the ending (reposted below) but here are my thoughts on the ending:
Yes, it would have been nice to see what the consequences of the ending was for the galaxy. Did the fleets get back to their homeworlds? Did your team mates get their wishes such as Tali building her house on Rannoch. That closure would have been good to see.

Exploding relays going supernova and destroying a system has been established before. But then you have to remember that the God Child built the Citadel, built the relays, built the Reapers. It's not to much of a stretch to think that they can blow up a relay without the supernova effects. Sure it would have been nice to have the explained. Course, there is the other answer that they did wipe out the systems and the survivors get to start the cycle again without the Reaper threat. All of this has happened before, but does it have to happen again?

One thing about the Migrant Fleet though. They've been nomadic for about 300 years. So are probably the best adapted to being stranded around Earth in terms of survival.

As for Shepard's death, I had a feeling that it was going to lead up to that. I had guessed that he was going to be the catalyst or have something to do with it. They were building it up so much that to me, it just seemed a logical conclusion that Shepard had to die to end the Reapers threat.

But I do wish they had done something more with the keepers. They've always been present at the Citadel but other than keeping the place running, nothing much has been said about them. Could have thrown a curve ball that they were the ones behind it all.

Would I have liked a happy ever after ending showing my Shepard, Liara and little blue babies? Yes. But I don't feel rage towards the ending I got (chose the symbioses ending first, then went back to see the others, including Shepard's survival.) Sure there are unanswered questions and maybe we'll get answers (that old cash cow of DLC, though I feel that Bioware might focus on Anderson's Resistance force on Earth, or Cerberus rather that post game DLC giving answers) but then again, maybe we wont. And maybe if I get round to playing all three games again in a row that unanswered questions will really bug me, but at present I'm content with the ending.

Bout the only thing I didn't believe from those videos was the trees. My second time trying the last mission, I saw a few of the trees that aren't there before you take that huge laser blast. Almost everything else is perfect in theory.

    I love the
    Indoctrination Theory
so much that it'll probably remain my headcanon, even if the upcoming DLC disproves it. Maybe it is fanboys reaching, but it just fits too good to me.

Just watched one and it is a very interesting theory and it makes a compelling argument. Would be interesting if that is what they are intended, though if they are I feel a little bit short changed that I bought the game but have to buy DLC to see the ending.

Though I can answer one question in the video I watched. In it it asks "How did Hackett know that Shepard had made it to the Citadel after the entire force had been decimated?" Easy, the Citadel arms opened up, which was the goal they were trying to achieve. Shepard was the main guy in the game so of course Hackett would be contacting him.

One thing I am left wondering about the endings, that may tie into the Indoctrination Theory, is in the destroyed ending, if you have done enough you see Shepard take a sharp intake of breath indicated he is alive. But we saw the Citadel explode and if he was still there, I doubt there would be enough power to sustain whatever was keeping the atmosphere in. The surrounding rubble looked more like Earth.

I basically had the same thoughts as far as Hackett knowing that Shepard was on the Citadel, so I'm not hanging my argument on that point. However, the rest of the argument makes sense, and the extra scene after the destroy ending really makes me think it has weight. There really isn't any reason to include it after the destroy ending otherwise. It just seems like there's too many coincidences like the "Oily Shadows" and the foliage from your dreams in the scene where you're limping to the transport beam.

Also, as far as a "real ending" DLC. I'm curious if Bioware worked out a way to make it a free title update. Making people pay for it after all the 'controversy' would be crazy.

It is far better theory than I thought it was going to be and one that after viewing I can see hold much more weight than some wild and random fan speculation that you sometimes get. Just wish Bioware would put us out of our misery and tell is the DLC plans.

One other coincidence is the magic handgun that can kill a fully shielded Marauder in about 4 shots. Had to laugh when I did that. I want that handgun earlier in the game.

If they did charge for it can see there being a backlash.

What gun is that? Currently in insanity I get Garrus to overload Marauders shields then rip them to shreds with Inferno ammo in a Revenant AR.

Are Harvesters supposed to be difficult? I find they're just big targets.

Seriously, I used that rifle the whole damn game. Wish I could magically get it in multiplayer.
