I was about to post this. This is great news, as ME2 is one of the best games I have ever played. Nice to see it spreading to all consoles.

Playstation 3 owners are about to get one hell of a good game.
    I might even double dip.

I'll double Dip, especially if the bonus content is nude Asari.

:lol  I was just coming to post this too.

This is great. I've already played the game several times on 360. And I dam sure wouldn't mind getting it on PS3.

Hell....we get a GOTY out of this...it'll be day one. :D

I would think it will be kinda weird though for PS3 owners to not have the first game to play through to carry over their character to 2. That's a big part of what I've liked playing it on 360.

But my cousin is starting ME2 without having played ME1 (because he's lazy) and it gives you enough of a backstory and I never found the porting character to give me the boosts that I was expecting. I recreated Alis Shepard on the PC version (so I double dipped there too) and my experience has been virtually identical.

Maybe some of that "bonus" content will be catch-up material.

Either way, Trailbreaker, I'm talkin' to you. You have to get this.

That part wasn't a big deal in the least. I mean the game never asked you to go back to the previous disc, so playing through ME2, you only had to change out the disc once through your entire playthrough.

2 is a great stand alone but without 1 you miss out on alot of backstory in the game.

It's like playing KOTOR 2 without playing 1 first.

Half of the draw of playing ME2 is carrying over the world you helped create in the first one. In fact, if you don't import a game in ME2, a lot of the default choices it makes you accept are BAD ones. So unless there is a different system, some important characters will automatically dead from the get go, including
    Wrex

I think there's enough of the story carried over plus stand-alone elements in ME2 so that new players won't be lost.
But I think that part of why I like ME2 so much is the fact that I carried over my character from part 1.
I really felt like Joker was where he was because of me, the doctor was where she was because of me, Wrex was doing what he was doing because of me; I could go on and on.

    This. This very thing.
Mass Effect 2 was wholly ruined by my having to get off my ass that one time and change discs.
That was 45 seconds I could have been picking my nose, or imagining Prowl as a werewolf in Twilight, or imagining Prowl as a vampire in Twilight.
Game of the Year status denied!

Wearwolf, dude. Team Jacob all the way.

PS3 gamers will be fine. It's a whole new bad guy, and only character familiarity will be truly missed from ME1. And as soon as things get rolling, you get familiar with them all over again. Hell, most of the cast is new anyway.

I just miss the Planet exploration. Repetative or not. It was my repetativeness, and I liked it.

I think you guys are missing the biggest point: NO
    WREX!!!
He's half the franchise to me.

Unless they change something, he's dead by default.

Nah, because he wasn't as big of a deal for me because a)
    I killed him
. And b) Thane replaced any badass that had come before. Aside from planetary exploration, ME2 was a much much better game. Hell, even the abysmal texture glitching vanished in ME2. I wouldn't replay ME1. I would easily replay ME2.

This is great! I've really wanted to play this game and was considering getting an Xbox just to play it ( I know it's on PC too, but I don't like playing games on my PC). Can't wait

    You are dead to me.

Thane has 1/50 the personality of Wrex. Wrex-lovers are going to get sweet karma come ME3. Just you wait.

Haha, but that's why I love him. He's a freakin' NINJA with a frog voice and one minute he's not there and the next you're dead!

To be fair, I tried everything to
keep Wrex alive. He was part of my main troop and when he died, I had to outfit some other character because of the gaping hole Wrex left

The fate of the Krogan was a big deal in ME2 for me.
    It greatly personalized the game.

I had no idea that the auto-choices from starting a new game are mostly the 'bad' ones.

I'm gonna say it right now: if there is some way to import your ME1 game to the PS3 I will buy this game again.
Now that the Xbox supports USB storage this is logistically possible unless Microsoft forbids the idea.
Programmatically it is a huge undertaking to design a game around all the various choices, but as far as reading a save file from a prior game, there is only True or False linked to each condition.

But that's assuming that PS3 owners have played through ME1. I mean if they owned the 360, then this news would be pretty irrelevant. This news is for those who only own the PS3, so naturally they would have no save to port.

What I'm pretty sure is that somehow EA will make the transition smoother for those who haven't played 1. Maybe some kind of movie leading up to this game, which a potential choose your own adventure. They did something for Xenosaga 2, because the first game was so epic that they released a free disc with a 4 hour movie leading up to the sequel.

My character was an import, and my
    Wrex choices were pretty bad
and my game was still pretty freakin' brilliant.

In other words, I have no doubt that gamers who have not played either game will still be getting the experience from hell. My favorite moments weren't on the Krogan Homeworld. They were on the Asari Homeworld. And like I said, My cousin started with ME2 and he hasn't had any questions, and is enjoying the game, like I said he would :D
