Breakfast can wait! I'm working on bringing Soundwave to life in his Marvel Comics color scheme. The purple is a Rustoleum spray paint that turned out to be the perfect shade. Taking him apart and masking him ended up being a lot easier than I had feared. The hands are only on there with one screw, and you don't even need to take the forearms apart. The rest it pretty straight forward. He still needs a lot of work. The head is going to be gray and the guns will be a lighter shade of blue. I'm going to let his paint stiffen up for another day or two before I attempt a transformation. Updates to come. I hope you like him! There's a good chance that he'll be going up for sale when I've had my fun. (...I just realized that left some masking on. I'll let you figure it out.)
I was hoping someone would do this. Great job. Edit, just read that the head will wind up grey... That'll finish it off.
Thanks gents! I'm glad you like him. Still lots to do. I need to get some paint on his toes and a few details here and there need cleaning up- in addition to the head and guns. I debated with myself a bit on whether or not to make his feet solid purple too, but I'm going to leave them silver. I think it balances out the design better. I'm sure that there was a panel in there somewhere where he had silver feet. Marvel coloring was insane in those days, especially with the TF books- which is, of course, the whole point of this. Scubaboy31- I'm really surprised that there aren't any purple Hotrods out there too. I'd like to see it. TM2Dinobot- he's going to get a panel line wash that will make him look a little darker. Along with some highlights. King kaiser- Thanks, I don't know construtoman's work. I did a search for purple Soundwave's before I started this and didn't find any. Post me a link. I don't know about you guys, but I'm having the craziest urge to have Soundwave here fight Batman.
Updates! It's getting closer. I think I found a good color for the guns. What do you think? Once the outside of teh shoulder cannon is dry, I'll go back and do the fiddly detail painting between the red things.
that is beautiful. one thing that isn't comic accurate but i always thought would look good is a silver/gray stomach. you know in the middle below tape deck and above buttons.
