And the character is... Frank Castle, also known as the Punisher!!! Kevin Fiege announced that they hope to bring Punisher into the same universe as Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, and Captain America soon. Marvel is very excited to finally get the character's rights back.
I don't know why you want him to be in the Avengers...He's never been part of the team, and I thought the best part about this news was that now Marvel Studios can make movies that don't have to do with the Avengers. Branching out, and showing their expanded universe. Maybe a few cameos here and there, but that's all I'd want from it.

Let's just hope that this means Marvel is at least fighting to get more characters back. I could very easily see them getting rights to characters like Daredevil. Currently, they've got rights to these characters (Along with their supporting characters, such as friends and villains) Iron Man Captain America Hulk Thor Black Widow Hawkeye Nick Fury Ant Man Wasp Black Panther Iron Fist Luke Cage Vision The Power Pack (Gross) Dr. Strange Punisher And that's all I know of currently. So really, once you take those characters, their friends, and their villains, you've got quite the ensemble.
I liked him also in the first movie. I remember reading the sequel was going to be filmed in NYC and then they decided to film it in Louisana. Then I read Jane dropped out of the movie.
How many times have they already rebooted Punisher? Now to hope they can get Spiderman and the X-Men, Daredevil as well.
Only other character I would really want marvel to get next is Deadpool so that I can have 100% faith that it will be awesome and not have to worry whether fox will screw it up or not. That and Hydra can show up in the flicks. but good news for Punisher though!
he left cuz it took FOREVER, they started in 04, and that movie came out in 08 his voice for the game was great as well, i think he's the best punisher actor we've had
I actually like Punisher War Zone with Ray Stevenson more than the previous one with Thomas Jane and I hope he'll be in the next Punisher movie as well. Marvel will hopefully make a movie that does good BO figures, even though I know any R rated movies will not bring in a lot of money because of the restricted audience.
I preferred Ray Stevenson. Thomas Jane seemed like a soft ass. Ray Stevenson is far more intimidating, physically and mannerism wise. Jane is a good actor, but he's not a tough guy.
I still haven't seen War Zone, but I definitely agree that Thomas Jane was not Punisher. Not even close to being convincing in that role.
